Bhazard, Could you set both the RP and IT to YOUR favorite setting and compare? Im just curious.
what if you would just take a couple of the red, greens and just put them on the blue channel
I would think some light is lost when there is a center brace. However, the number of lights is almost the same with 2 It2040 or 1 IT2080. Has anyone tried it out to see if there's some shadowing. I would think the area 6" or less directly under the brace would suffer but maybe not much else?
I know with the razor this isn't recommended because one cluster of lights is directly over the center brace with the 27" unit. However with the Evergrow everything is spreadout so probably not such a big deal....
I can slide my IT2080 over my center brace and take a pic for you. My guess is, it wont have any noticeable shadows unless a piece of coral is on top of the water directly under the brace.
I know this question is next to impossible to answer but any thoughts on the lifespan of such a fixture ? I'm assuming you do not run it at 100% all day long. For a tank that doesn't require an insane amount of lighting, do you think they could last a good 5 years ?
How hard would it be to replace defective LEDs ?
If you did that it would answer a question which has been asked on this thread many times!
Sure. should be able to do it later. It's tough to really show with a smartphone cam, but when I get shots that look close to what I'm seeing, I'll post it. It would probably be Radion 14-16k vs RB "cloudy" at 60% blue 50% whites and colors.
With the Radion, if you leave it on a pre-set timed mode, its hard to see what intensity each led is at at a given time.
Another thing I was surprised with... I thought having the leds closer together like they are in the Radion would lessen the color spotlighting compared to the wider spread of the IT light. It does, but not by as much as I thought. It doesn't completely get rid of it. Like Ecotech says, its "minimal".
