Chinese LED Lights

Do you mean another set so 4 total or just one more of the 36" ones? I orderd 2 of them, so I hope it gives me a good amount of brightness, with a nice color and par. That's the thing with leds I guess, with MH you have like 4 options then adding acentic lights, with led you have a million options to choose from and then some

Another question for you more experienced led reefers. My LFS recommended 3 of the ecoray 112d for my 30" deep 300 gallon reef. I did some reading that light only uses 1w led, and on the display tank at the store, wetpets, the light is bright even at the bottom with the lights at least 18" + from the water, do you think I will be able to get about the same amount of bright light on top of the PAR

Looking for opinions on Maxspect LED units

Hello all, I'm setting up a new reef tank. This one is not too large, a 30 gal. with a 20 gal sump. I ran an 80 gal. for years with 300 W. of CFL's and had a lot of fun and success with my corals. I have been out of reefing just long enough to have no experience with LED systems. I am leaning toward a 10k 120 W. Maxpect Razor, hoping to keep sps, Lps, and softies. My tank is a pretty generic 30 in. I am trying to avoid "spot lite" effect with dark corners. Any opinions on this setup, especially how far above the water is recommended for the light height would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Honkies83 Are you asking about the malibu s200 lights? I am just using 2 of the 36" lights, and I don't think those lights will work for your tank, leds need optics to get down 30" and far as I can tell those dont have any your tank is very similar to mine, I would recommend 60 degree optics for the depth. And mikefromaz it all depends on the level of light. If you set your led lights to 20% you can have the fixture alot closer than if you had it at 100%. The best advice I can give is hang your lights where they look good and you can still reach into the tank easily, and then slowly ramp up the brightness, until your corals respond well. If you take it slowly enough, you will see your corals response. If they bleach you have got too much light back it down. And just be ware that led lots put out alot more usable lights that corals use, but your eyes may not. Your tank might not be as bright as if you had cfl but there is more usable light for the corals

I'll bet it's neither. Neither Reef Breeders nor that other one use Cree style chips, and Bridgelux doesn't manufacture those style of white chips.

We all get it asid, but 2/3rds of the fixture manufacturers say they use Bridgelux leds. Maybe they are and maybe they aren't, but at this point nobody really cares because they work just fine. They may not be as efficient as Cree or put out as much light, but they work and I can't run my fixture at 100% anyway and it's WAY more efficient than my old leds.

Hey Ron if you don't mind me asking, what leds are your running, and what did you upgrade from

Ron runs Ever Grow fixtures. Better than the Malibu IMO.
For a 300g mixed reef, 3 malibu fixtures would be needed for SPS. 4 would get good PAR throughout the tank and so you won't need to run them at 100%.

See the 4 foot light but where is the 6 foot light at?

Hmm wonder if 2 of these would light up a 72 long 24 wide 30 high tank?

Have one on my 55 gallon corals are doing great.

Oh, they would light up for a while. Then they would die. JK,JK. :P
That heatsink looks woefully inadequate for 146w of led, but it might work. If you say you already use one over your 55, then go for it. 2 would be good for SPS at the very top and soft corals on the sandbed.
2 Reef Breeders Value fixtures would be a much better choice IMO.

Asid61. What are you thinking as far as arrangement for having 3 lights? I mean the ones I am waiting on are 36" so unless I arrange them diagonally I would not be able to have even coverage of the entire aquarium with just 3 unless you are talking about three of the 24" fixtures mounted front to back. Obviously I understand the idea of 4 fixtures. But with how long my wife and I had to save for these lights on just my VA disability I will have to wait another 2 years plus to buy two more.

Are the RB Photon series basically the same as the Evergrow series? Is there an American store selling the Evergrow? And lastly are there 3 separate power plugs for the 3 different channels?

Thanks
Norm

Yes, they are. We are an American retailer selling the lights. The Photon series has one plug, the controller takes care of the channels.

I have just started cycling my 130x30x24 and will be keeping a mixed reef would like some suggestions. Is there a light that can be controlled by apex controller

Cm or inches? None of the chinese leds that I know of are apex compatable. However, the photon series has a built in controller.

Thank you for the quick reply Logan. I have a 72" x 24" wide x 18" deep aquarium. For the $10 price difference between the 2 fixtures should I just get 2 Photon 24's over 2 Photon 16's?

So many pages here, didn't get a chance to read through them. Has anyone experienced the 120W Dimmable LEDs on e-bay from the seller supersmart. I have 2 over my 55 then just transferred them to my 75. Not sure what the best % to run them at. Would love to have opinions.

I actually bought 2 of those very lights for a 75 gallon aquarium, mixed reef, that I set up for my cousin. They are at about 6" off the surface, with no optics, and I have them set at about 4/5 blue 3/5 white. So about 16k blue overall, and I know there are sps on the bottom that are growing like mad.

What kind of corals do you have? 2 24s should support a mixed reef. 2 32s, or one photon48 and a photon24, or 3 value fixtures would cover an sps dominant tank.
