ChrisQ's Upgrade Build....Again

bro. that is nice. it looks great. looks like you have good flow from the return. next runner up CORALS CORALS CORALS...:bounce3::bounce3::bounce3::bounce2::bounce2::xlbirthday::dance::dance::dance:

No I haven't decided which way I'm going yet. I'm leaning towards one way a little more but still want to read a little more before I pull the trigger.

Chris- IMHO- MP40 is still superior to Gyre. I have both. Now with price drop its a no brainer. Gyre is good no doubt, but MP is a work horse, very powerful, and on a 80G should be plenty, even for SPS.

Im not dissing the gyre, but so far for me its not proven. Its only been on the market for a few months. My WP40 was a monster until it died 18 months into the game. MP 40 iv had for 7 years with no issues.

Sweet....Reef Crystals...Instant Ocean???

I'm using the living colors salt that I bought for my current tank, as soon as I'm done with this bucket I'm most likely going to try the Red Sea salt.

Thank you and that's with the valve closed a good amount! If I open it up things get crazy lol

I've been debating that with myself for a while now. Not going to lie I did already preorder the gyre 130. I love my MP10 and now that the price of the 40 is low I didn't mind buying the gyre to compare and if I don't like it I'll end up selling and getting the MP40.

The main thing I want to see is how my tank does with "virtually no dead spots". As suggested earlier I am going to keep my MP10 and place it on the opposite side a few months down the road to add some random flow to the tank. The main concern I had with the gyre is the lack of random flow when compared to the MP, again I will just have to see how it does in real life once it gets here.

As far as the WP I don't think I'll go that route again after mine died within the year. Same situation as you, worked great until I saw I had stopped moving. I do believe the controller actually burned it out not so much that the pump failed. Then again I'm no expert lol

I'm glad you said that Eddie. For the last year and a half I've been buying all the parts for the 180g I'll be setting up soon (hopefully. I got into a bad accident while on my road bike on Christmas and split my head open which put me in the hospital for just over 2 weeks. So money is prety tight right now) and I bought a couple MP40's as well as a few Tunze 6095's. When I saw the MaxSpect come out, it made me pretty jealous, but your comment made me feel a lot better. I'm glad to hear you still prefer your MP40's.

Blair- Glad to hear you are ok.

"A couple MP40's" is plenty for a 180. I do however use Seaswirls x2 for my returns. Plenty of random flow.

In my 200 I have an MP40 on one side. The other side i have experimented with Tunze's, Koralia, Jeabo WP40's etc. None have proven better than the MP40, but know the gyre 150. Only reason I have not gotten another MP40 for that side is because the way my tank is set up, the left side is in my hallway from living room to family room, so I dont want a big motor sitting on the side for aesthetic reasons. So far the gyre is working fine, but again, will it give me 7 years of no issues going forward?, Its got 6 years and 10 months before I can say the same thing about it. :wavehand:

40 cups of salt later my salinity is almost where it's supposed to be! Tomorrow I'll be transferring everything over hopefully it all goes smoothly.

Everything has been moved over!

Nice mess you got there! I love that tank. Awesome dimensions! Hopefully the milles will thrive in there, lol;)

Haha why do you have to make it personal?? I need to find a used set of radions or something like them. I really do not like the coverage the the lights give.

I don't understand why radions have the price point that they do so I may just get a pair of hydras or get the 4ft version of the lights I have now which are the LEDZEAL lights.

I bought a couple of SeaSwirls as well.

Can you raise the lights more and turn them up more?

Or change to wider optics on the ends?

Moving them up higher is not an option right now, or I guess not the easiest one. I could order new optics for the whole light. I was about to order them actually, but then I found a killer deal for some AI Vegas so I'm going to give them a try.
