ChrisQ's Upgrade Build....Again

More cell pics... I need to go buy a tripod so I can finally start taking decent pictures with my Nikon.

Found what I would consider a unique looking scoly which is one of my favorite corals and one of the reasons I wanted to get a saltwater tank. Why it's taken me so long to get one I don't know, guess I'm just too picky!

Definitely not the brightest thing in the world but I fell in love with it right when I saw it. Maybe it'll brighten up under LEDs who knows but either way I'm excited about this one.

I also picked up a second clam, a derasa, which I also though had a unique pattern to it. It hasn't fully opened up yet so I'll post pictures of that later on.

Chris,

Until you get a tripod, try to use your hand and brace the camera lens against the glass.

Yup, or set your shutter speed to around 80 and work around that. I know some that can shoot great shots at much slower speeds but I can't.

You mean 800 right? :)

Uh, I don't think Chris has Parkinson's. Yes I meant 80, at least that's the value in my camera, unless on Canon 80=800? We are talking shutter speed correct?;)

Shutter Speed 80-100
Aperture/F-stop 3.5-8ish
ISO 400-1200ish

Depending on lighting of course and the "look" you are going for:D

When it comes to camera settings im a lost child! I more or less understand what each function does but I dont always see a difference when I make adjustments especially small ones, guess its just my untrained eye. Ive been taking several pictures at different settings but when I put them on the computer I forget what settings go to which. I am happy with some of the pictures that I have been getting though especially with my new micro lens! I still have no idea what settings are best for my tank because I feel like I ask 10 people and get 10 different answers, guess I just need to take more pictures....what a shame lol.

Here are a few that I took yesterday, only editing done is temperature/crop.

Those look decent. Exposure looks good. Your aperture settings are limiting the depth of field in a few of them and your focal point is off on some. You also have some camera shake. All easily correctable. When taking pics I prefer to use manual focus or spot metering.

My bad Rovster, I was thinking ISO for whatever reason.

Chris: I think your pics look great. Keep taking pictures and playing around with the settings. You can use a program like Lightroom to see your picture settings or download a free Exif reader. I think they have plugins for the some web browsers too.

Picked up a haddoni and will have some designer clowns in the near future.

That looks great . I see you soon will like some nice clowns. I know a great guy that has nothing but FAYA!! CLOWNS. all day. Hit him up b4 you try the LFS. I'll put my tank on the line for this guy... great healthy clowns. I have got 3 pairs of clown from him so far. And they are doin . Great. 2 regulars. 2 black and white and 2 snowflakes. You will not go wrong.

Thanks Tony but a little too late. I found a pair from a LFS already that I saw from this weekend. Looking healthy and eating right away. I'll hit you up if there is a next time or if I know someone looking for a pair. I got a pair of flurry clowns that are still pretty young.

Here's a bad cell shot. Not easy to get a good picture though.

Well after a sudden outbreak of what seemed to be ich all my fish are in a HT and dropping like flies! :( last night I did half the recommended dose of cupramine and found 2 dead fish in the morning went to work around 8:00am and ca be back around 3:30pm to find 2 more dead fish. I immediately did a 5 gallon WC and I'm now playing the waiting game although it doesn't look like I'll have any good new to report on my fish! Pretty sad moment for me, can't stop kicking myself in the *** for not QT'ing my fish...lesson learned.
