Christygirl's new Leemar 180 build!

As I learned in chemistry labs: "Do as you oughta, and add acid to worta"(water) lol
Hard to spell water as if it was said with a New York accent :p
Reef, I got exactly what you meant. That is funny!

Congrats on the skimmer!

Great skimmer. For me, ideal water level for the skimmer is 8". If you have questions about it, LMK
Mike,

My sump with the detox blox on the bottom one layer thick was still 9" deep. I decided to add one more layer of the detox blox under the skimmer like a stand. Now the skimmer is about 7" deep. Works real well now. I had to take off the tube between the muffler and the top. It wasn't letting the air in enough so the water level was too high even at wide open.

Pics later!

I don't use that top tube either. I never was able to get it not to overflow when I was using it.

Another nice thing about raising it to 7" deep.... Now the waste drain clears the baffle so that I can drain it properly... I was sweating that.

Dang it. I hit done before I completed my thought. I want to add one to the other side of the tank.

Also, can anyone tell me how to post a video? Without using a service?

Any updates?

Mike,

Yes, the tank is going real well....

I still need to bring my doser online and do a couple of other things.

I need to get a breakout box for the skimmer to shut it down.

I need to get the Apex feeder

And my number one thing to get is the stand wrapped.

I am close though....

Got rid of the pool table so now i can take a nice photo of the tank.

OK, OK.....

I actually have just been letting the tank settle in.

I am real happy with it and I will post some pics this weekend.

I still have things to do on it including wrap the stand, Start up the dosing, change out my heater, and make a screen top.

I got rid of the pool table in the way, so, now I can take some good pictures...

The coral is doing great.... no dosing, just water changes....

But, I do want to start my dosing up.

Pics this weekend for sure.

Well, I only took a crappy Cell phone picture....

Tonight I will get out my Canon 1DS Mark II and a white plate for a custom white balance shot.

For now, this will have to do....

The coral is all growing real nice.

No dosing yet. Just water changes.

The fish have settled in.

Solitude, I owe you an explanation!

Here is the picture:

Nice setup. Do you like having a shelf around the bottom of the tank? Did you do anything to prevent water wicking under the tank? I had mold problems under a small tank sitting on a larger table.

Kieth,

I actually have a 1 1/2 thick top that is wrapped 100% in Color Core P-LAM. This plastic material is pretty much like a thin piece of acrylic and is non absorbent and there are no seams there either. On top of that, I have a 1/2 inch thick styro-foam insulation board that is all polystyrene. There is pretty much no food for mold to survive on.... I have built tank stand like this for years and to date, have never had a problem.... KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!

beautiful rock scape. Do you have a fascia board that covers the internals?

Matt,

Not yet.... I am custom making a front wrap with front doors and side access for this stand.... It will die right into the wall behind it and it will alsotie into the whole fireplace and window seat. It will take a little while to get this done, but, it will be a pretty cool presentation.
