Chronicle of my 180g Aquarium

Do you guys get Striped Cardinals over there? We switched from Chromis to the Stripies and I like them better.

BTW - Sorry to read about your jumping fish.

Kranky

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into the cardinals, they might be a possibility.

Good News! I took 200+ pictures today. Bad news.. I had the ISO set to high and not many turned out good once I got them onto the computer. I hope to take some more tomorrow and post some of the ones that did turn out.

I've also decided to add a second phosban reactor to my sump and run it in tandem with the first one. I will be switching from Seachem's Phosguard, to Rowaphos. So I plan to run Rowaphos in the first reactor and Seachem's Matrix Carbon in the second.

I'm also having trouble keeping Coralline off the glass, so I'm tempted to try out one of those razorblade/magnetcleaner contraptions. Anyone have luck with those? My Hammerhead AlgaeFree Magnet is good, but only good at removing the green algae film that builds up... not the purple coralline.

The razor blade/magnet cleaners work very well in getting stuff off the glass. You will need to change the blade very often as the Coraline will dull the blades very fast. Buy blades in bulk :)

im betting your bluethroat is hawaiian :) Hawaiian ones are 10x nicer then the bali or indo ones!
I have had about 20-40 bluethroats come and go in the past 5 7 months from Hawaii, and i got all of them to eat. I first started with live shrimp. Then i started feeding mysis but they are so shy i had to leave the room in order for them to eat in the open. Same with crosshatches :)

i would add a pair of fairy wrasses or something. Their colors and how tey flash and swim really fast is amazing.
this is my current stock list on my 180 (almost done!)

Flame wrasse pair
Lineatus pair
2 blue hippos tangs (1-2")
green chromis
neon goby

I plan to add:
2 more female flames
large lineatus male
pair laboutei fairy
pair rhomboid
black tang
pair helfrich firefish
sm mystery wrasse

of course this will be over about 2 years or so and some will prob not be added.
Good thing about fairy wrasses is they are very peaceful and have awesome colors.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Do you have a link to a particular one that you recommend?

Sure I got mine from SWC here in Winnipeg. He is a great LFS I buy everything from him including all my livestock. OM makes it it glues onto a magfloat magnet. Give Jayson a call @ 1-204- 255-9308

Hey Psyire, that full tank shot is really overdue. :D

I reckon you try some big angels. The Regal for sure and my new favourite the Blue Line. I also love the Goldflake. And hdtvguy probably has the most awesome fish collection on RC. :)

Zem; I imagine he came from hawaii as well, I find most fish around here have came from hawaii as it is closer than other places. I'm not sure on the fairy wrasses' though.. I like them alot but I would imagine they would jump out as well.

hdtv; Thanks for the info, I think I'll give him a ring.

Nex; You're right.. the pics are coming (see below). I may try an Angel, as I really like the Regals... we'll see.

And on to the long overdue pictures:

Here they are:

What is cool about the above full tank shot, is that you can count all my fish except the Mandarin. (he is always absent for group photo's)

There is 9 if you are wondering.. (10 with the Mandarin)

looking good. The fairies will jump if you dont have a top/closed canopy. I put fine mesh over my 55, but my 180 has a closed canopy. :)

T'is a Magnificent Foxface.

are they reefsafe? i dont see them on liveaquaria or MDlive?....

bebo, The Mag. Foxface is as reefsafe as any other foxface. Most people have good luck with them. I personally haven't witnessed him taking any nibbles or bites out of any corals I have. The black sand isn't bad, but I would perfer no sand because I can't crank up the flow of my Tunze's to the levels I want. (due to it blowing into piles)

thor, thanks for the compliments.
