Cipro and Mags

Ok so here is what I dont get I have had 2 mags for about 2-3 months now. The first one deflated and I treated with Cipro and it recovered and is doing well. The other one started to deflate and look horrible so its now in the QT tank. So based on my observations if you have multiple anemones it may be best to treat both of them at the same time even if they dont show signs of being sick.

Ok now I need some opinions on the one that currently in the QT, the mouth has not closed since its been there. Its been 5 days, do I take it out or keep up with the Cipro until the mouth closes?

I don't think you need to treat them both at the same time. However, whenever the anemone deflates, it pump out all the "bad stuff" into the water. If a healthy anemone get too much of that "bad stuff" it may become sick. Depends on tank volume, condition and many other factors. Your sick anemone looks OK other than the open mouth. If he does not deflates, I get him back to main tank. It is better if there is no anemone there, but if you have to, then you have to put him back to DT. That is why I have QT and TT separately. My QT is a full healthy running reef.

That is a good idea to have a QT and TT. I may have to do the same but the better half will prob kill me.

Ok so do you have any idea why the anemone hasnt closed its mouth since its been in the TT?

i know you are asking Minh and i am not Minh, but based on personal experience the nem mouth doesnt have to be closed.....

No thank you for your input. But as you can see from the pictures the mouth is inflated alot.

And since I last updated this thread the anemone looked horrible last night so I did a 100 percent water change, this am it looked alot better not deflated like it was. Again the mouth looks about the same just open a bit more.

I guess time will tell im going to still treat for a few more days, today is day 7.

I agree with Pimkskunk. Anemone mouth does not have to be close. Still your anemone have a very large open mouth. Sick anemone open mouth are often very think pipped, not full and fleshy like your's. I think he will be OK
