cl2ysta1 and dew2loud1's 900g Starphire in the desert

Alrighty since I don't have any updates on the big tank I'll update our tank move along with some stuff we have going on at the moment.
We set up a new clown breeding setup. Even with the new six tanks we dont have enough room for all of our breeding pairs

For now we plumbed our 220 cube, two 60 gallon frag tanks, and a 120 into the sump. A g-6, a remote dsb, and macro are providing filtration.

This is a nursery tank for the clown fry. The sides must be blacked out for the first few days because they are extremely light sensitive. Especially from side light.

My gold stripe maroon pair has this tank to themselves.

Our purple tang rescue. He is easily 6 inches and was living in a 72 bowfront with a 12 inch vlamingi, a 7 inch orange shoulder, 5 inch hippo tang, and various other large fish. He should eventually heal up nicely

Now for some gold stripe babies!!! these guys are just through meta. They are now "baby fish" instead of fry.

That's awesome! If I didn't know better I'd say you've got an obsession on your hands lol. It's ok, I'm almost as bad. :D

Awesome UPDATE and pics. Seems like you guys have a lot of water on your hands! :) The breeders look neat, very nice setup.

Will continue to follow!

How did you make that cool bridge rock work in the cube tank?
we used utah lace rock. It's actually rock that is left over in the ground from when utah apparently used to be a shallow sea. It's pretty much free other than cleaning and digging it up. We plan to use the same rock in the large tanks. It is light very porous, and comes in some sweet shapes!

How convenient and free. This should look great in new tank! I'm from the Caribbean and my dad gets a good laugh when I tell him I'm buying rocks for an aquarium.

Nothing as of yet.....
We're building a horse barn to store the hay thats stacked by the tank right now.....
I've been going through stand designs the past few weeks and hopefully will settle on one before the month is over.
Talked to building/zoning last week and I'm still finalizing plans as to how to enclose the carport and add a greenhouse addition for the lagoon.
Picked up a couple baldor/dart golds this week and I'm still working on the laguna's for the giant skimmer as well. Hopefully I'll be getting my acrylic tubes back from spazz in the next month or so and I can get started on the skimmer.
Hopefully I'll start making significant progress in the next couple months.
It should see water by this fall, but there is still a long way to go.

Dang, that IS a HUGE tank if you have to build a bard to store the hay that is currently in it!!! whooooeeee!

My personal advice is to go with a 3' high stand or lower (if you are not at least 6'2").

I have a couple of reasons for this.

1) Most corals look better from a slight view down aspect, especially acros, if they are placed above the eye line they are not nearly as attractive.

2) Having 4' of depth is great for aquascaping, and logically the highest points will be toward the rear of the tank. However if the tank is above eyeline, your depth perception will be cut as the forground will dominate. You will be able to see through to the back, but not across through to the top. Consequently the 12" topmost part at the back of the tank will be lost from view.

3) Maintainence. Speaks for itself.

Good luck, look forward to it

This tank is gonna be awesome- I hope all the technicalities gets worked out as soon as possible-I wanna see you get that tank wet!!
