Clam placement

Recently purchased my first Clam, electric green corcea.
Now, i purchased about 2-3 empty shells so that it has something to attach to. Should I burry the shell under sand and then keep the clam on it ? or should I place the shell on the sand bed and place the clam over it ? would this disturb the clam from moving around / opening completely ? :)

I have always just laid the oyster shell ontop of the sand bed and placed the clam on top of it.
They always attached withing a week.

Except for this one gold maxima.
But he's a punk with an attitude.

shell face up or face down...what happens if you place the clam in the sand

I've placed mine with the shell inside facing up :)
By placing it on the sandbed, it won't have any place to attach. I think
