Cleaner Crew

It's been a couple of years since I've refreshed the cleaner crew and it's starting to show. I got my initial crew from GARF and it did a good job, but over time the numbers have diminished.

Where is a good deal with good service?

I looked at Liveaquaria (expensive) and GARF (no one answers the phone), and a couple of e-bay listings...

Also, any thoughts on Blue-leg over red-leg hermits appreciated.

Used to be able to pick up snails and/or hermits from a few places for relatively cheap, which made the shipping charge not seem so bad, now I dunno, everyplace charges an arm & leg for the same thing, it's gotten to the point where going to a LFS to pick up snails isn't that bad anymore.
 
I get my scarlet hermits for 3 for $10 or something like that.. 3/4 inch or so big.

Also heard that blue legs are more aggressive than scarlets in comparison to snail killing...
 
I think we had our last big group buy from reeftopia over in florida. I still have at least 75% of all my critters =)
 
yeah group buys are the way to go. i spent like 20 bucs and 20 nassarius 25 ceriths and 30 ceriths. there were enough people that they gave a discount.
 
I don't want to manage a group-buy... but will split an order with a 1-2 people in the south-bay - reeftopia offers free shipping on orders over $125.

I can manage a group buy, but not for thousands of critters like Nicholas did last year =X

I can do it for the east bay and maybe sf people too.
 
Group buys are such a royal pain the butt, simply because this area is so diverse in location that any centralized buy really isn't that convient to most.

That and I don't want a bunch of cheap bastards coming over to my house to pick up their snails that they managed to save $5 off of :)
 
I'd be up for joining in. Would love to get some Electric Blue Leg Hermits and Trocus Snails if possible.
 
actually I better not... I'm so busy these days it'll be hard for people to catch me at home to pickup the stuff =X
 
I recently got some blue legs from Atlantis in Union City. about 10 for $12 (I forgot the exact price) They have various snail and scarlet too.

I got my scarlet from marinedepotlive last month but I'd rather getting them from Atlantis.

This is the 1st time I introduce hermits to my tank. The cleaning crew used to be snail only. So far hermits are doing their jobs. Probably too much nutrient and algae in my tank. :D

It's funny that I saw one scarlet cleaning the shell of the fighting conch. :)
 
So - I got delayed last week... Work does that to a person.

If there are any of you that want to come raid my setup for pep shrimp, hermits, saron shrimp, sally lightfoot crabs and assorted snails, pm me. I'm in Oakland and am ready to tear down my tank.

As far as snails I have nassarius, turban, turbo and assorted others

There's also a fighting conch in there as well.
