Clownfish not eating.

Well I picked up a small occ. clownfish at my LFS. This is the first fish I've had in about 4 years, just getting back in to the hobby.

The clown is the first inhabitant to the tank other than the c.u.c.

He ate thawed mysis shrimp at the LFS but won't eat anything as of now. I've tried mysis and flakes but doesn't seemed to want any of it. I don't wasn't to keep feeding and spike any of the parameters. It's only been 24hrs. How long should I wait to try feeding again?

He's very active and appears to be strong and healthy.

I would offer him a small amount of food every day. You might want to vary the offerings and try some Brine Shrimp, Reef Frenzy, etc.

If he doesn't eat in the few days, try some Cyclop-Eeze. It's like Clownfish crack, literally. I prefer the frozen, so you might want to check your LFS so you don't have to eat the shipping on one package.

I would guess that he is just getting used to his new home. When I QT fish, I don't even bother offering food for the first 24 hours and normally don't even turn on the light for a day to allow them to slowly transition to the QT.

Most clownfish breeders feed baby fish with pellets. It is one of the better food to try for tank raise clowns. Often you can ask LFS where they come from and try various food at the store first. In your case it is just too early. I worry if they don't eat in 3 or 4 days. If all fail get live food.
