clownfish sexing breeding pairing

I forgot about my large maroon clown when I purchased 2 tiny picassos and an anemone a few days ago. The maroon instantly went after the picassos but now just chills with them. My question is (a) could the maroon clown become the dominate of the three thus preventing either of the two small picassos from developing into female and when I eventually put them in a breeder tank I have two males or (b) when the smaller picasso matures, could one breed with the maroon?

It's a ticking time bomb, that maroon is going to get wicked on those two, just a matter of time.

Maroons have breed with ocy clowns so it is possiable but a very long longshot, this is how they got the blood orange clownfish.

But with that said i agree with davocean, most likely you will end up with just the maroon in the end.

Btw how did you forget about your maroon clown? Lol

Blood orange clownfish sounds interesting, Hmmm. The 3 are still hanging out like the best of friends. Maybe because they are in a 125 with lots of other distractions? I think I will try to get my breeder setup sooner than I had planned though and get the little guys out of there. I think I forgot about the maroon clown because the tank is just 6 months running and I have gone insane with the purchases of fish, coral and equipment. 3 Kessils for the DT and 1 Tuna Sun for the sump yesterday and I got the APEX today. There must be a support group for people like us.

A LFS here had one and it was a mean ugly bastard. Trust me, there is nothing interesting about a mean ugly fish that has all the negative traits of its parents but none of the positive.

I really don't get how you can forget a fish that you put yourself into the tank, especially if you only have one tank. I have by now 4 tanks (and I'm not even a year back in the hobby), not counting QTs and can tell you precisely which fish is in what tank.

As for the support group: it's here, supporting you diving deeper and deeper into the madness.
And as soon as you start breeding things can spiral out of control quickly. Back in Germany I ended up with over 30 tanks and so many fish that I had to make lists to keep track of them ...:D ... :debi: ... :headwalls:
