clownfish without anemone

Clowns dont need an anemone to be happy or surive so your fine

If the clown makes a goniopora its home, then it'll probably eventually kill the goni. I have a torch hosting a skunk clown but so far the torch is still ok.

No problem, often they will pick something else if you have any soft coral or something that feels like a nesting area of some kind.

my clowns are being hosted by a lavender mushroom. even at night when it closes up, the male clown still sleeps on top of it.

I would take the "happy" with a grain of salt. My percula pairs are fore sure much more excited since they have their anemones.

At a bare minimum Anemonefish seed a suitable replacement, or they don't behave naturally and just swim all day restless around as if they are looking for something (which they actually do: an anemone).

Some will take on leathery or stony corals or even polyp colonies. Though the best anemone substitute is simply a plain red ceramic flowerpot of suitable size. I can't remember any of my past or present ocellaris or percula to reject one.

And yes i understand they do seem to be much happier in a host anemone, but they can be happy also in other corals, powerheads, ect whatever they choose.
