clowns peaceful... then start fighting

I bought a pair of clowns from an lfs both of equal size. That was in october. They bickered and nastily fought for awhile and for the past 2 months have been peaceful. Then today they started fighting nastily when I turned the aquarium light on. One is definately bigger than the other so that is my female. They are the only two fish in a 55g tank and I was hoping to pair them up and breed. Also before they started fighting the female would move her tail in a sweeping motion almost to clear the sand out from underneath her. Has anyone seen this before?

They are not fighting :D They are wrestling
Now seriously I think what you describe could be the court dance.

They did tihs before.. so i assumed it was over. They had been peaceful and the male could stay right next to the female except in sleeping quarters sometimes. It just looks like they are deciding who is the female again. Clownfish don't fight right before spawing do they?

Not really fighting but they dance around each other and some times they bit each other lightly. If they are really fighting I would not worry much, the tank is big enough and if one will feel to be hurt it would have parted ways already.

if they were really fighting the male would be dead. all is well. they sound like your typical married couple
