clowns rubbing there face in the carpets mouth

I put in a new green carpet. the pair of ocellaris go in and rub there fase in the mouth of the carpet. are they trying to get use to the host. The carpet is a s. Haddoni. I did not think the would go in there but they did. I took three days

I've seen clowns do that all the time. I think it is normal behavior but I could be wrong

no just rubbing its face in the mouth and biting a little bit

Sometimes they never go to a nem.

They were both tank rasied from two differnt shops. The frist one is big so i took a chance and got a small one. They hit it off right away. They were in a big xenia had to take it out they were killing the coral. will see if they sleep in there tonight.

My clarkii has gone all the way into my haddoni's mouth. As in couldn't see any of the clarkii at all. Comes out fine every time.

this is normal for clowns it scared me at first when my female maroon started to do same thing to my new carpet. She had stings all over her face but from what I read and told they do this to get enough slime coat built up over rest of their bodies before hosting. next day my female was fine and she host the carpet no problem. my male another story he has yet to touch the carpet he stays away, I think he scared of the pain...LOL good luck!
