For quite a while now, I have subscribed to and received periodic e-mails from About.com: Saltwater Aquariums

In their latest feature, they reviewed most commercially available Salt mixes to help us Reefers easily compare the differences between essential elements contained in some of the top brand name sea salt mixes sold on the market.

Oceanic is not in there and that is what I and several other members use.

I did notice that.

Actually, before I got my GEO Kalkwasser reactor, I used to like the Oceanic because it readily dissolved (like Now!), plus it was higher in Ca & KH, but now with the Reactor, it's all I can do to keep my Ca numbers below 550.

Now, I'm straight IO, because it's just enough of what I need.

Also, with each batch of salt from every company there are slight variations in the mix.

Do y'all realize that the article is over a decade old and at least five of those mixes have undergone changes that would render the results invalid now?

Yeah, but absent anything else, I thought it couldn’t hurt. Rendos sent me a more recent comparison chart, but I can't put my thumb on it.

It was really good and showed the trace minerals for each of the brands, allowing Members to choose their brand of salt Mix, depending upon their (calcium reactor, kalkwasser, etc.) equipment & set-ups.
