concept for a homemade wavemaker

I came across the when I was testing my return plumbing. When I pointed the nozzles a few inches from the surface and had 1500gph running I noticed it gave a wave effect. I know this wont work as a wave maker but might give someone and idea.
No moving parts

No that was the cool part. it was 1500gph full power and 3 x 3/4" nozzles tuned to push the same flow (tuned by squishing all some of them using a heat gun until the flow felt all the same)

I think the walls in the tub were creating the waves.

Ohhhh I see .... from looking at the vid, I thought that it was pulshing or something.

Basically you're using an underwater spray bar.

Now I'm no scientist, but it looks like the water being force up and out of the water is creating a sort of barrier for the water coming up right behind it. And with science the way it is, the water is always trying to find the easiest way around. So if the water is going and the stream right behind it (I understand that it's constant) would require more pressure to go through it decides to veer right a bit because it's an easier path of travel. In doing so, it's causing the water behind that one to veer left a little bit to avoid the previous "gush" of water. I'm really bad at explaining things easily. I guess what I am trying to say, is that it looks like the water is constantly diverting or deflecting itself due to gravity.

Maybe I'm just totally off and should continue eating cookies and counting asterina's in my tank.

Boy those mpegs do a lousy job with water... Blurry mess.

Let me ask; Was that nozzle header free to move? A little tiny bit of flex down there could cause a large change up top.
