From diving the reefs and videos I've watched, I think a tunze wavebox, or vortechs setup for a wave effect is probably the best enviornment for almost all host anemone species. Moreso the wavebox as it moves a vast amount of water back and forth. If it would work, I'd put one on my cube.

I have had mine under decent flow, but not blasting like original video that was posted. They love alternating flow more than anything it seems. Also have had mine under LED's for the past 5 months now

I Achieved this by getting the JBJ quad wave maker and new power heads I got the Koralia Evolution and it works from side to side for 10 seconds at a time 2 power heads on the right side are on well the left side is off at 10 seconds the right side goes off and the left side turns on . this is how I get the wave . I love to look now much more natural and some of my sps are showing better polyp extension. so all in all I am glad I did this . I am Hoping in a few years I can get the Vortex but for now this is working great

I am not to sure . They may work for a bit but if they are not meant to be turned off and on a bunch of times could brake it .

So for all of you with alternating flow, what kind of timing do you use? Catch says 10 seconds for his, is this about typical?
Just wondering if I could achieve something similar with a simple timer function...

I am not to sure . They may work for a bit but if they are not meant to be turned off and on a bunch of times could brake it .

yeah. i turned them on and off a few times last night and they prob will not work. the noise if anything else would drive me crazy.

I'm alternating flow every 2 seconds in my tank. Longer cycles would work too but you would need less direct flow. My mag never liked turbulence from direct flow, just a lot of indirect flow.

I wish i could change mine to 5 seconds but it will only do 10 seconds . Oh well i have to say i love the change in flow now that i look back at my videos i think to my self holly cow what was i thinking .
