Considering a 6215 wavebox

Hello,

I'm starting from scratch rebuilding a reef tank. My old 20 yo system was lost in a house fire. I'm probably going to go with a 120 acrylic that is 48" long, mixed reef.

Questions:

Will the single wave box provide adequate flow without other flow supplementation?

Does the wave box come with the controller?

What is the best position for the overflow, corner or middle?

Anybody using this on a similar size tank and are you happy with it?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

The wavebox is generally not sufficient on its own, in terms of gph it could be, but the flow is directionless, a back and forth movement that lifts and suspends detritus but needs to be accompanied by a directional current to move debris to the overflows.

The ideal is to have the overflow centered on the back wall. It includes the controller.

I would go with a 6206 Nano wavebox and at least 1 6105, possibly 2.

One in each back corner aimed to almost the diagonal front corner, the flow should hit about 1ft before the corner.

Thanks Roger for all the quick replies...Just one more question. Do the 6105's run constant on or do they need a controller also? If so, which one? Price is going up quickly here. I've always wanted Tunze and I know it's the best. Just have to be able to afford water for the tank :D

Thanks again for your time...

Scott

The 6105's can be controlled but a controller is not required. For example a 6206 and a single 6105's would be a sufficient start, down the road you can add a controller and second 6105. I would get the 7096 because it will be able to run the wavebox and pumps so you can simplify to just one controller.
