Convict Tangs

A few hours in the QT. The QT is 30 gallons. I am kind of pleasantly surprised they're eating nori already (well at least breaking it up into hundreds of tiny pieces). Turned off the filter. The larger and skinnier one even took a couple of bites of spirulina flakes.

Any tips on keeping these guy are welcome!

One of my favorite tangs. Have kept them a few times and they almost always seem to come in skinny. Feed them a lot. Nori is what I've used most sucessfully to get weight on. BTW, even that skinny one doesn't look dangerously skinny. GL.

Yes I have seem some skinny tangs in the LFS especially sailfin tangs. Somehow a lot of them come in like a sheet of paper.

No aggression at all. Make me wonder I should go back to the store and pickup another one. They're not expensive at all. Saw the bigger one pushed the smaller away from the nori but now even that is gone. What a change from the high strung tangs. These guys are not shy at all.

They must've very short digestive tracts. Poop came out like 1 hour after feeding and you can still tell it's nori.

There is some aggression now causing the smaller one swimming up and down in one corner. I put in a divider to separate these two. Was thinking about put both in the same tank now that's out of the window. Both eat nori like pigs. Feed nori 3 to 4 times a day. The bigger one eats some flakes too the smaller one just tastes and spits out. Like to see them gain some weight before moving them into the DT's.
