Cool Fish on Diver's Den

The real question is do you pay double the price for a 14 day guarantee.

I think it depends on how frail the fish is. This being captive bred I would think there is very little risk. If you pay $2000 and it dies and then you buy another $2000 and the second one lives, you still have $4000 invested. Also, I think that depends on how much you like the individual fish. Personally if I had $2000 to pay, I would have $4000 and I would just spend the $4000 and get a little sleep those two weeks. LOL

Latezonatus clown $300. why so expensive?

Completely overpriced, especially for a misbar. IMHO a tank bred latezonatus is only something special and worth the money if it is perfect. That was what Karen archived - perfect tank bred latezonatus.
Otherwise it's just another misbar clownfish, but one that gets big and mean.

I think these tank bred latezonatus come from Australia, at least that's where the ones come from Blue Zoo has on their site. They haven't moved for almost a month now. The pair DD has for $800 also hasn't sold yet.

I saw it came as an adult on sale, and someone snagged it - you?

No totally missed it somehow. Do you know the size or price? Also can someone tell me what happens if you buy a 3-4,000$ fish from LA and it comes in sub par or is out in a large DT and disappears? Do you get a refund or credit?

If it were to disappear I would consider that dead and they should give you a refund. I've got the same issue with a Royal Gramma that I just bought was about dead when it got here, I put it in my tank and it blew around in the current and into a rock then was gone. I saw it the next day but not since. I did notify LA and they said if it didn't make it or were to disappear they would refund my money. I'll be calling them tomorrow. Told them I had no way of sending a picture since it's gone. I don't think the expensive fish should be any different since they have the same guarantee.

Sure the RG is only a $20 fish but the principle is the same.

I called and asked this question to LA/DD after I posted this and the guy told
Me they would probably want the fish back if it was thousands. So again I'm wondering what happens if this doesn't occur?!? If I get a 3,000$ fish I'm not going to press my luck QTing it for a prolonged time when there is a guarantee.

I kinda figured that. Also in my case the fish is only barely an inch long (ordered a med got small) and the CUC would have it completely gone within minutes of dying. I tried getting a picture of it before I let it loose in the tank but the flash killed me getting a picture and didn't notice it until later. I told her this and it wasn't a problem as long as it was still alive even barely they wouldn't refund until dead I get that. My biggest problem was fish smaller than I ordered and was concave belly basically starved and I told her this. She of course said how strange... yeah anyway I agree with a fish of that cost I wouldn't press your luck either.

I'm sure you've seen the thread in the http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2444122 thread where he left the butterfly in qt for a very long time and it started going downhill towards the end of the thread. Is this the same scenario you're referring to?

More to the point 10-15 yrs ago QT didn't exist and they still had this guarantee. Heck now people still don't QT

Yes. Some fish don't deal well with change. If a fish goes in the 625g with 1000lbs of Rock there is a good chance I never see it again if something happens... So then what happens is the question. I want one of these thousand dollar fish in referring to

Case in point Matt (Caribfan) had a Arabian BF he had for 4 months that suddenly died for no reason and didn't like any sort of change in the least bit. I bought one too, mine live for just under 3 weeks. I lost a few things to unknown illness though at the same time. Point is I need reassurance from DD/LA

Oh I know, I was just referring to the length of time in QT didn't turn out well, not specifically about DD or any other retailer.

Matt, has a beautiful setup and a very healthy batch of fish. That semi should do well. I'm looking forward to more of your build pictures
