Hmmm. About how long do you think I could keep him in a 55 gal before I need a bigger tank? (I promise, I'm kidding. I really want one of these, but plan to wait until I have a 240 first.)
That's kind of a risky approach. Not that I haven't done it myself, but plans and circumstances can change and the upgrade may never happen or be seriously delayed.IMO/E they are slow growers...you'd have plenty of time for an upgrade
I've had various H Tusks in my tanks since 1973... I can't remember any of them growing more that an inch, over many years!Agreed. That's why I will wait until we move and have a 240gal system before getting a fish that would be happier in a big tank. It's a fish I really want, so I would rather have one I can keep for it's lifespan versus trading it out for a smaller one every time it gets to big for my system.

I bought my Tusk about 2 years ago, and it was about 2". Now it's about 4". So certainly not fast, but not super slow either.

There is always something to add to get to the free shipping amount: shrimp, algae, live food...
Also it doesn't matter if the items come from DD, Quality Marine (= the regular LiveAquaria livestock), ORA or any of their other suppliers.

Ah, ok, thank you for the clarification.Once the get to about 5-6 inches the really slow down. That is in a 420 gal and 320 gal with plenty of food
Asking the important questions. What is that?
May not be the right place, but there is always a lot of talk and some fish experts here. Could anyone tell me what the fish is that is hosted in this picture? I just came back from a few dives in Hawaii and saw lots of them but do not know the name or if it is something reasonable to consider keeping (fish that is). The coral is pocillopora. Few searches are showing damsels but it didn't look like one. I thought it was a clown derivative but pretty sure I'm way wrong.
