Thank you all! I really like this forum!
That is an interesting fish and first result from reseller said it is aggressive. It noted Hawkfish will eat crabs, shrimp, anemones, and smaller fish. What anemones would it eat?
Temperamental little fella, but neat. Maybe have to scratch that off my list and just get the coral

I suspect frozen to death. Water temperature was just 19 °C (66 °F) upon arrival and likely lower sometime during the night, before the icepack had completely melted. I wish they would stop adding these icepacks - it's not that hot here but rather quite cold at night and in the morning. :debi:
The pipefish - as a subtropical species - made it alive. It was at first quite inactive, but got more active as the water warmed up.

Yep. And I just learned from another thread that there have been more of these little Bettas coming in DOA. They really need to stop sending them with ice packs - these little ones obviously can't handle low temperatures.

I got a small wild caught one from Petco. For several weeks she was harassed by my female in the tank, but last week I saw all three of them. That little one is doing good. Found a cave fairly near the male. The female on the other side of the tank. I got 3 in my 320 now.

I think they're going to have to drop the the 2 from the $2,499.99 to sell it.
For the money and the adult size and coloration, it's a tough sell.

Personally love this fish.

The market for this kind of fish is very small and largely made up of public aquaria and zoos.

Me too - I thought about getting them but read that they pretty much just hide 24/7 :/

Yes, and gets about as big. I've seen some larger specimen of chrysurus and they were impressive.
Also large Pomacanthus species can get really old - up to 60+ years.
