Coral growth shots

I'll be the first to tell you that I still have tons to learn about this hobby. In fact, I learn something new every day.

I have the added benefit of being with the aquarium for a better part of the work day, but also the added challenge of not being around on nights, weekends, and school vacations.

I've found that some corals will thrive and grow in my system, while others slowly and inexplicably (to me) wither away.

That being said, it's often nice to see how far some things have come. Here's a few before/after shots of some of the tank specimens:

And this photosynthetic gorgonian I got from Gary. Started off as a 3" frag:

It's good to look at photos like this when I feel like I've had a bad day of reefing.

Thanks for looking!

I think it's great!

With the aquarium being located where it is you have more challemges than the average reefkeeper. Go with whatever works IMO.
I love those black and white Chromis.

Thanks, everyone!

Gary- I was attracted to those blackbar chromis mainly because I had never really seen them around before. In my somewhat limited experience, I have never seen another species so aggressive and territorial with conspecifics. They were cheap (like $3 each), so I started with 10 of them in a 10 gallon QT right after the aquarium had cycled. Every morning, I'd arrive at school to one dead one. After putting them in the 8' display tank, the remaining four each staked out exactly 2 linear feet of territory, dividing the aquarium equally into fourths.

For the past year or so, the two on the right-hand side of the aquarium have been spawning, so they do take a break from chasing each other out of their territories to do the nasty! :D

Nice progression shots something you dont see posted very often.Thats great you are able and willing to have that tank in a school.
