The slide show works just fine and all the shots are great ones. I'm sure we'd all like to see what you've got brewing in the back room.

Excellent slide show Peter!
Finally got to see what your tank look like with blue LED'S. Absolutely stunning.
The blue LED's really bring the color's out of those Zoo's.

Did anyone else notice that it appeared to only be LED hung over the tank in the very first slide? Peter are you holding out on us?:)

The blue LED's create a whole new experience over the reef. I still don't have the photography skills to capture what the eye actually sees yet but I am working on it. I have asked Michael Willems to give me a lesson on how to capture what I can see under the blue lights so I can pass it on here. The colours are absolutely rich and stunning but the only way to convey it is with pictures.

Good catch, almost. Mr. Wilson and I have been experimenting with various configurations and we have removed one of the aqua-medic 6 ft lights and replaced it with three of the Orphek LED units. We have decided to change all the centre MH/T5 fixtures with LED's. I will let Mr. Wilson give out the technical specs as these lights have been designed by him for the maximum benefit to the animals in our tank.

Awesome! I am looking forward to hearing the details of the "Mr. Wilson" version of the Orphek.

your images are fantastic peter,i finally put one as my desktop background...i have been using chingchai's tank hitherto...:)

magnificent. love the slideshow. keep them coming.

soon you will have a new "problem", pruning all those corals.

i saw several nonphotosynthetic corals in the tank. how do you feed them? what do you feed them?

I don't want to jinx it Dave. So far all the inhabitants are very, very healthy. They are going into their second week of quarantine with no obvious signs of disease. I have to repeat that this is by far the best shipment of fish and coral I have received to date with respect to overall health and well being. I probably will break down and share the news but I haven't got a good batch of pics yet so I will try again later today. In fact maybe I will add that to the fish room girl job description......picture taking, thread typing and shopping. Not bad work if you can find it.
Oh by the way Dave. One of the Grimm Bros found three new baby cardinals in the sump. He was able to capture two of them and put them into the Wilson bar. I am going to try with Mr. Wilson to capture any others but so far our pair of cardinal parents have produced 8 offspring that all appear very healthy and robust now. Its far from a world record but I suspect that our ability to birth them in this display tank and eventually return them to general population in the tank is unique. Our pipe fish are also breeding but I suspect the offspring are simply helping to feed the occupants of the tank. Sort of like pizza without the bill for the fish.

It took a considerable amount of effort to arrive at what I consider to be a 'best practice' candidate for our tank with respect to the lighting. There is a level of experience that must be accrued before we can declare it but I can tell you that aesthetically we have a winner in my estimation. The science of strict measurements appears on the surface to be good but our challenge appears to be the measuring devices that openly admit to difficulty measuring leds for PAR. It would appear that the results are skewed and there is no remedy in sight.....pun intended. Mr. Wilson is better equipped to explain the challenge than I am.

However our experience to date is giving us enough confidence to try an all LED solution for our tank so in the next three weeks we will be hopefully demonstrating our solution and potential best practice.

I/we are honoured. You have been around so long it must truly feel like you are putting up a pic of your own tank by now. I still have Chingchai's tank on most of my desktops to be honest. He will continue to be an inspiration for this build for some time to come.

Thanks and you are right, maintenance of this tank will demand continuing perseverance and dedication. Mr. Wilson has already been fragging the tank believe it or not. He has been taking the best adapting coral for colour and health and spreading the frags throughout the tank. We hope this practice will keep us in shape for the real thing as the tank continues to mature. I try and feed the tank once a day with Reef Roids, Decapsulated shrimp eggs, Cyclopeeze and phytoplankton. I did try oyster eggs but I suspect I would have to order that stuff by the barrel to make any impact.

WOW!!! Simply amazing as always.

1 suggestion....is there a way to have that link at the top of each page on this thread? Otherwise people are going to be referring back to it over and over.

Actually thats a good point. Perhaps I can make a signature thingy that will always have the link next to my avatar. I will try and figure that one out now. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks also for the compliment.

page 283 is stamped in my mind to show everyone what can be accomplished! take a deep bow Team Peter!

I have just added a signature to my profile which I hope will accomplish an easier route to the slideshow.

The team appreciates your recognition!!!!
