As soon as you bet on 1350 Imperial gal............and the prize I might add has something to do with a bentley!!!!!!!!!!:lmao:

Peter:jester:

The next one should be 300 cubits long x 50 cubits wide x 10 hands high, equalling 1350 cubic imperial furlongs :)

That's some nice looking rock Peter, can't wait for it to cure!

Thanks Mike. It's day three and the water is clear and have yet to experience the dreaded rotten egg smell. Having said that, I hope I haven't killed the rock. I'll try and take some Pics tomorrow and see if I can get a consensus on whether my luck has run out!!!!!

Peter

this thread's title reads 1350gal, but based on the dimensions, I come up with 1177gal. Have I missed something:sad2:

wow good thing you pointed that out. Peter you will now need to recalculate your lighting, flow, lbs of rock and stock list. This was almost a disaster. Good thing for balloonboy was paying attention to all the important stuff in this thread.

wow good to know

I don't know how he did it but did anybody notice that upnext's post count is 42???????

Talk about parallel universe.....

You guys are beyond good.

Peter

ps well it WAS 42 untill he had to ruin it by posting again, but it was 42 because I saw it........we have witnesses.

I don't see any difference between 1350 or 1177 gallon.
Space is the factor indeed.

Chingchai, I agree. The only calculation that is meaningful I think is the total gallonage AFTER the live rock goes in. We haven't begun to figure out the live rock yet so we do have time to make any adjustments.

On a serious note my plan is to follow the excellent format my friend TonyF from Brisbane, Australia has used in his thread and provide a detailed accurate listing of all the components relevent to this build. Once we have the final details I will ask a Moderator to update my thread by putting the info at the begining of the thread.

By the way Chingchai, you may have seen Tony's build already but if you haven't its well worth a peek. Its an excellent build.

I did see Tony's thread.
It is a great tank and tons of useful information.
Anyway, thanks for your suggestion.

Gentlemen, I'm humbled by your praises, especially from the two of you; I am but a simple old reefer :sad1:

:fun4: If you're ever coming this way, Peter, be sure to bring your golf clubs with you.

I agree...I think that we're seeing more of these larger tanks due to the ability to more closely mimic what we see in natural reefs. That was the driving force behind the 2500+ build I've got in the planning phase! Great build thread...I'm looking forward to watching things progress...

i think anothor picture will shut these boys up over the exact gallons of your tank its still massive and we need something else to talk about

I don't think this will work.................

Kentrob, Thank you for your continuing support. This group is going to look forward to your build for sure. I believe you are correct in your assumption about the ability to mimic the natural reef. The technology, experience and knowledge is evolving at such a rapid pace that our established practices are going to have to step up just to keep pace. I believe we are seeing first hand just how impactful the internet and forums like this one can be on this hobby.........We live in interesting times!!
