There is pressure on the joints of the tank with alternating currents and in peters tank the water flow needs to be lower.Over ten years working with reef tanks and 40 years working with water.Have a good day

I respect your opinion, but we are still taking about pretty much a static load here. maybe the photos make it look like more movement than it really is. It's a matter of quality not quantity. Typical reef tanks have a 20-40 x turnover of water movement. Peter's is closer to 10 x the volume of the tank even at the high end.

We may turn down the flow a bit more if corals are being knocked over. Right now we are only consuming 500 watts to move the water. Even the smallest fish like the fire gobies and anthias are always out and swim directly in the current.

What flow level would you recommend, other than "lower"?

Good to see you on here Shipwreck. How did that big tank work out for you? If I remember correctly you were taking one apart and reassembling it.

Yes it is sitting full of water in the room, but the project turned into a gut and reframe (including structure) of the entire room so it has been a lot longer in the making. The cool weather and completion of some other paying projects should see some more forward motion on my tank. Actually I have talked with Paul at OM and am possibly going to be modifying the tank to incorporate his new wave device that you linked to earlier in this thread.

Reading through this thread has given me great motivation and ideas to get back to my build as well.

We need to start moving on coral purchasing soon as there is a delay with permits for imports. We will be looking into local options as well. We just need time to go out on a field trip :)

The mangrove walls will be in tomorrow I hope, and the sump will follow late next week. Things are starting to come together to the point that only fine tuning will be necessary.

I need to start looking for a job :reading::hammer:

In intro of Corals is great news. Supporting the local Reef Stores is a great idea too. I'm a loyal ORG (Oakville Reef Gallery) customer and 90% of the corals on my reef are from ORG.

I'm not sure if this is allowed but here's the post to a local forum thread that I started. I had a fellow SPS fanatic take a few pics of my tank. This pictures a little blue but this will give you on idea of what you can find locally.

As you know Mr.Willson this store is minutes away. I hope i don't get in trouble for the post I just haven't had time to create a thread on Reef Central Yet.

Peter was hoping to go hand pick some stuff...

I have been following this thread from the start and without fail I see Peter and the team he has assembled consistently achieve the stuff of dreams. I fully expect you guys to go scuba diving to "hand pick" your corals...and yes, I expect pictures. :p

You can expect a post card too. We promise not to tease you with Cuban ricordea :)

Nothing has happened, that's the problem :) We haven't even begun to start the process. Peter wants to buy some corals direct from Indonesia so we need to start the export permit process. Peter was hoping to go hand pick some stuff but it doesn't look like he has that kind of spare time. You know what that these retirees are like, they are busier than ever :)

So Peter can't go himself and you are looking for a job. ;) Would be a nice job if only for a week or two to go to Indonesia to hand pick some corals and enjoy the sunshine.
