Crazy Daisy's Reefer Madness

More is better-er!
G'day. Recently I was at my mate Geoff's house (I think he roams around this forum under the alias DAY1?) taking some photos of his tank, so he suggested I put up a tank journal on here for you guys to perve on. So... that's exactly what I'll do :) I'll let some photos I shot do the talking for me for a sec...

Now that that's out of the way, we can get on with proceedings. The tank is quite simple really:

  • 7x2.5x2.5' (2100x750x750mm) with 3 sides Starphire display tank
  • EcoSystem Pro Series 4822 sump w/ 60lb of Miracle Mud and various macroalgae species (bioballs removed)
  • Royal-Exclusiv Bubble King Supermarin 250 '09 skimmer
  • 2x EcoTech VorTech MP40wES powerheads
  • Laguna MaxFlo 6000 return pump
  • 2x 4x39W ATI Powermodule lights (1x Korallen-Zucht New Generation, 1x ATI BluePlus, 1x Korallen-Zucht Fiji Purple, 1x ATI True Actinic front to back per unit)
  • A whole big mess of foods

Geoff's been keeping tanks literally twice as long as I've been alive, this latest system has been running for nearly two years. Stock-wise it's fairly obvious what he gravitates towards with corals, fish-wise his stocking is pretty close to what it was from day-dot with his previous system of 6 years:

  • Spawning pair of Blue Tangs (Paracanthurus hepatus) (I've got video I'll post later)
  • Coral Beauty (Centropyge bispinosa)
  • Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma veliferum)
  • Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhites armatus)
  • Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus)
  • Bicolor Anthias (Pseudanthias bicolor)
  • 3x Madder's Seaperch (Pseudanthias dispar)
  • Kupang Damselfish (Chrysiptera parasema)
  • ... I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two, but hey, it's been a big day (sorry Daisy!)

Anyway, enjoy Geoff's little slice of reef!

A little video I shot on the same night... watch it in full HD :)

Your friend's tank is really rocking the colours! I can't figure out if it's the lights or hormone injections or what!

I think if his tank was tested he would be banned from LFS for two years.

On a serious note I love all the colors of the hammers, frogspawns, and torches. One of my favorite corals.
