Cully's Double D's

So both my sliders were supposed to come off, so we could just walk er in. BUUUUUUUUT we found out the hard way, the non-slider only comes out with the entire construct of the door set and jam. CARAJO!

Thank God we had a mechanic, and two builders on hand as the moving crew! PonyTail Dave, and Dave D. from ABC Reefs, and Pat, our buddy who helped with a lot of the construction at ABC Reefs were there.

Realizing we're screwed and having to take off the back of the stand.....

We ended up eeeking the tank through the space we had. We also were able to take off the back "H" of the stand's 4'x3'x34"construction to wankle it's way through the door into the house. This thing is a beast!

Oh brother...(and this was after carrying it around the back of the house)

WELL DONE LADS!!!

NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS THING????

She was on the camera Gary. She's actually REALLY psyched to have a tank again. She's seen what Big Daddy can do with a glass box and some rocks.....and a couple thousand dollars :D . She even tolerated me drilling the glass, for a little while. But, she waved the checkered flag on tank activities today. I'm a lucky man for sure!

Overflow box is installed. Had to modify it just a touch. The center brace is a bit bigger than I realized, or was even aware of, when I gave Chris the specs to make it. No biggie, fits like a charm now.

Getting the canopy's unfinished surface painted to prevent mold and dry rot:

Very nice work Mark!
Drilling a tank scares the heck out of me.

Nico

You and me both. My Sphincter's Factor went up with each hole. I was particularly on edge because it was such a Muther to get into the house. If it shattered, that would have been it for me. Woulda just bought a 90 and called it a day!

Jackson, I asked the people at HD's paint department. They recommended Behr paint and primer enamel paint, all in one to prevent mold and prevent water damage.

There's a link on my first page of this thread to another 200DD and that guy has the product he used. I didn't look really hard, but I didn't find it. That's why I just went with HD's recommendation.

cool, thanks.

Seeing the tank in the room with some furniture gives it some perspective. Thing is massive. I LIKE IT!

I'd have to say, the materials in this Skimmer feel much nicer than my old beloved ASM, on initialinspection. Not 100% crazy about the design, but this thing looks like a beast! Mocked er up as I'm trying to design my sump.
