Cully's Double D's

And I am one of those people. I will have to be more diligent with the changes. Obviously, the results speak for themselves.

This is becoming one of my favorite tanks already in URS! Cant wait until this thing starts growing out Mark! 40G water changes should keep you going without supplementing for a while IMO

Nice looking Mark. Don't know if this has been asked or not but looking at the pictures it doesn't appear the rock stack is very high. I'm just curious if you took some Par readings on your tank?

Also curious what is the length from the top of your rock stack to the top of the water. Looks like a ton of swimming room for your fish.

Dave! Glad to see you're still around. No PAR readings. It's kind of moot as the lighting I've got, is what I'm using. Not planning on going from 250s to 400s. If you go back through the thread you'll see where the halides are on pulleys that raise and lower them. My 180 had the lights about 8 inches off of the water. Now they are about 1-2" off of the water, so I'm sure I'm helping my penetration. Heat has not been an issue.

The rock at its highest point in the back right corner is just higher than the halfway point with reference to depth.

The method/madness. The rock pile is shaped like a wedge from right to left and front to back. The water flow is s gyre, where the ENTIRE body of water rolls over the top of the rocks down towards the front and back up the back side of the tank. It gives the appearance of less flow, as there are not power heads blasting pinpoint areas. Overall, IMO there is a larger amount of flow.

Having achieved huge SPS colonies in my last tank, I feel confident I can replicate it. The selection and placement of frags is such that they will fill in, maintaining the wedge shaped reef. But it will still only get up to about 3/4 of the depth of the tank at the back right corner. I want a big reef but in a huge body of water with lots of swimming room.

SCHAAAAAA-WIIIIING!

Lookin' great Marko!!! I was going to ask if the TT ever gets annoyed from the clowns but it sure doesn't appear so!

Thanks. Nah, they've been hosting it for years. It may contribute to slower growth, but as a package, the TT+clowns=crowd pleaser.

I've had Todd's for 5 years, and I love it. I have no lineage in this being Toms, but it looks close enough for me. I'm an SPS guy through and through....but I friggin love this coral!!!

Just picked up a torch that looks very similar to that one, a cpl weeks back. Some of the tips are, *ahem, "big-balled" like that one of yours. Very cool!

I'm digging the minimalist rock. It makes the corals that much more impressive as they grow. Lookin' really nice, boss.
