In wall tank position, Now it looks more like a fish room.

Anyone notice how much fun smashing down walls are? Its hard to stop once you start.

I think I want a new job.

typical builder. Im dealing with the same crap on my renovation as well.

Contractor decides to go the easy route, you say no then he tries to charge you for making changes to the design. I wonder how many times they get away with stuff like that?

Thanks Guys,

EnderG60,
they can try to charge but they will end up taking me to court before I pay for that sue me! lol. To answer your question I think they must get away with it most time or they would not do it any more.

TandN,
I know it is crazy right, I am sure they think they know best or the cheapest or whatever. My wife said they looked shocked when she told them I said knock it down and start again.

Still it makes life interesting.

I will post some more pics on the weekend.

The pictures don't do justice to the tank size. I noticed looking at them online. Or more correctly the photographer is not capturing the sense of size in a decent perspective....

So the reason for the post today, I was going to go with the M40 but now I am starting to think maybe go with Hydro 8,s and the wave maker they have. Partly due to some things I have read about the M40 with regards to value for money and distance the wireless works. The hydro8 can be adjusted for direction which is another plus.

In a perfect world I would try both.

So if anyone has tried both on a large tank speak up...

I am glad you made that builder redo the wall. Looks like a good build you got started. I have heard good the Hydor8's and am looking forward to picking a couple up myself down the line, but no actual hands on with the 8 just the older 4's.

Thanks Eric.

The more time I spend looking online and talking to people the more I am starting to think the vortech / tunze / hydro debate is more to do with what's COOL then anything else. Vortech does have the battery back up and thats a plus but apart from that I just cant see any advantage for it on a large tank, smaller tank ok yes the wave motion looks good.

My thinking now is its like BMW drivers and ford drivers, both do the same job, both work, one comes with the I am cool appeal the other not so much.

Marketing is taking over this hobby, time will tell it that's a good thing.

As you can see the room is quite large and the tank should not be to overbearing.

I really want it to be like a port hole to the see. None of the tank sides or pumps etc to be seen.

It is really coming together nicely.

Speaking about function and style. If the equipment is similar I'd rather save my pennies to spend dollars.

I have given up on buying used equipment. I got screwed a couple times so I think quality, cost, durability, and power consumption are my main concerns for equipment.

The stand for the sump.

Its made out of hard wood for those of you in to stand building. fresh from the rain forest.
