d2mini's 130g Rimless Cube

Show us some pics, I've been subscribed for a while. Love the tank. The company that made it folded, so sad. What company do you think could build a tank of that quality at a reasonable price? How are your water parameters, any detectable PO4? You must love that photon fixture, is the 250w or 400w and if it is 250 can u easily swap out ballast to drive a 400 w mh?

hey dennis, how come you used a piece of hard pvc here? can't you use flex pvc?
The way I did it just seemed to make a nice solid connection and was easy to connect the gate valve after the pump.

More pictures please
Dennis, will you setup and scape my next tank?
Dude... i set up the auto water change system BECAUSE i'm so lazy. :D
I'm lucky I was able to set up MY tank! LOL!
But if you want i can come over and art direct. :D

Ya, i guess i need to take some more pics, eh?
I don't know who else to go to in town other than ADG.
Parameters are doing great. Still making tiny tweaks to the water change system but my salinity seems to be holding right now at 1.025. I've got the BRS dosers going for 2-part and that's what i'm trying to get tweaked now. Alk is ok but Cal is still low at around 350. No phosphates that i can tell other than the dusty algae on the glass. I need to clean it every other day. The sand and rocks are clean, water is clear, nitrates are low. My bubble coral just can't seem to adapt to the new tank, but i heard those do better in poor water quality which would explain why it looked awesome in my old 46g. :D All my rics are doing great, sponges are borderline at the moment but i know those are hard to keep long term. Frogspawn is doing incredible, hammerhead is good, one clam kicked it but one clam is still going. Even one of my flame scallops is still going. And my Gorgonians are doing great. So overall the tank is moving right along. Starting to get some purple coraline on the overflow now too. The orange star is still alive and kicking too which I was really worried about and still am but so far so good.
The fixture is doing well. It's the 250w. I have no idea if you can swap it out for a 400 but you can just buy a 400 fixture to begin with.

I had to go back five pages to find a FTS, and even then it was just one that someone had quoted. I think its time for a photo update! ;)

Does having the vortechs in the overflow reduce the noise by any meaningful amount?
I don't know because I've never had Vortechs until now.
But I was worried that the acrylic box surrounding them was going to act an an amplifier to the sound and/or allow vibration since the acrylic overflow is much thinner than the glass. But I haven't had any issues.

I know, I know! I've just been so busy with paying photo gigs. Back to the studio tomorrow.
Nothing has changed though. I've just been letting everything settle in. I did a lot for a new tank in a short period of time.

Damn D2, now you have me considering a Cube for the upstairs living room. Very nice bro.
haha, thanks.

One pic to hold you over. Going to go try to get some more now. :)

Meanwhile, tank is doing OK.
Some of my sponges were finally starting to deteriorate a little bit so i decided to pull them out, which i just finished doing. Still have a few in there though. Recently I lost my clam and a couple sps frags that I just put in there were close to dead within days. Toxins from the sponges? What do you think?

I also discovered that a couple of my test kits went bad so just a reminder to think about that if you think you're getting some odd readings.
Before I realized it was the test kits, i thought the Brightwell salt I was using was giving me problems so i just switched to Reef Crystals last week with a 45g water change. Guess I'll stick with it since most people seem to like it.

Speaking of water changes, my auto water change system seems to be tweaked and working great now. Of course the large water change I did kinda made me have to start over as far as monitoring long term effects of the automated system.

I also got my 2 part system from BRS up and running and it seems to be working well.

Current water parameters are...

Calc - 500 - a little high, will back off on the dosing
Alk - 9.5
Mag - 1400
PH - 7.8 - I need to raise this somehow
Salinity - 1.026
Temp - 79
Nitrates - 5
Ammonia - 0-5

I want your:
House
Tank
Camera
Dog

Dude you have it all!
I really like the tank. You have convinced me to buy a rimless cube instead in a couple of years to replace my 93 marinelaned tank.

Wow, nice pics. ..trates at 5...hmmmm...water change? export the trates...however with the ammo at 0-5, maybe the sponges are creating a mini-cycle. In any rate a more freqent water change for the moment. I'm not sure but I think Reef Crystals has a "built in" buffer and should help with the acidity you seem to be experiencing..just MHO.. -Joe

Thanks guys!
The tank was made by Sapphire Aquatics but they closed shop.

Here's a few shots of some of my Ricordea.
A couple aren't extending like they should be, but most look great.
