Because they are huge, noisy and expensive. Fine in a fish room but under my stand in my living room, not so much. Why not go with a cole parmer/masterflex and lock in the stability? Also do you feel like this regulator will out perform a carbon doser regulator?
Thanks!Everything looking good. I love GEO CaRx! Nothing like a good ol' American Made Product!
Good to hear you survived the hurricane in one piece.
Haha damn I just ordered a 612 with the AP carbon doser last night, I've always heard good things about it...will it last me a while at least? This will be my first carx, I've always done 2 part in the past...Because they are huge, noisy and expensive. Fine in a fish room but under my stand in my living room, not so much.
I still have one from my last CaRx setup, but hadn't really had a need for it at that time. My little Rio feed pump was working fine. So I figure I'll see how it goes.
The AP carbon doser is a cheap single stage reg with a digital solenoid floating in a big empty plastic box.
For the same price, you get a dual stage reg that is just as easy to tune, uber stable, and will last forever.
Thanks!
Only bad thing about the Geo so far is the worthless mini ball valve on the effluent line. It's either off or fast drip and shot my Alk up already. I had to order a precision needle valve.

Cool bud, thanks for all the advice.Yeah, it will be fine and its easy to use. I had one on my last setup before building a custom reg. I had no issues with the AP but thought it would be a fun project to build the custom dual.
I just think for the same price (or a bit more if you want to go all stainless steel), might as well go with the higher quality custom dual reg. The AP seems overpriced to me for what it is. But I guess you're paying for the ease of use.

big and expensive yes but if you get a brushless they are dead silent. If you change your mind jump on ebay and look for medical supply companies that are taking offers and low ball them. I got a brushless unit with head for $240.
One day Ill have to build a dual stage and see how I like it. Been on the carbon doser for a while now and have no complaints so its hard to justify.
That is a very nice looking tank!!!
Looking great, really an inspiring setup.
Looking good!
How's the new refugium light working out?
I'm glad I saw your post regarding this, shortly after ordering my 612 the other night, I added on the needle valve as well. Thanks! So I quickly found out that the little ball valve that comes with the Geo is impossible to fine tune. It's basically worthless as far as regulating flow out of the effluent line.
So now I have a nice new needle valve that works great.
That must have been what Nona was trying to tell me.
She's pointing her nose right at it.
Here's the new valve...
