Glad I am following - great video of the Macro tumbling. Thinking about the Triton Method - have a local that is going to use it , and will follow your , my tank will be here from SCA in Early August. So, I may do it as well. Thanks !! Your thread has helped me immensely.
 
I bet the macro in your tank is dizzy. ��
I assume you will need to monitor what macro grows the fastest. I'm sure one will attempt to overtake the whole bundle o f macro.

Chaeto will grow the fastest no doubt. But that's ok, light will still penetrate, nutrients will still be available.
Different macros will grow faster at different times, some will go dormant at different times, some may die back and that's ok too because they'll release sugars and other nutrients back into the water column.
I don't plan on trimming stuff back unless I really need to.
Although it looks cool now, I don't plan on this being a pretty "display" refugium.
It should end up getting pretty ugly. ;)

According to the Triton guys, it is "encouraged to incorporate as many species as possible in the refugium, as each macro algae has different nutrient absorption properties/capabilities at any given time. Diversity is an advantage when viewed in this light!"
 
Hey Dennis, could you tell us what your experience with the GHL doser 2 has been like? I saw you writing on the owners forum and mentioning something about no log capability... Is that an issue for you still? How reliable is the doser 2?

No log capability? Not sure what you mean by that or if that was me.
The only thing I was asking about (i think in the GHL sponsor forum) was the ability for me to tell it that I wanted to dose X amount per day and have the doser do the math depending on how many times I told it I wanted it to dose per day. In other words, if I told it I wanted it to dose 40 ml per day and split that up by dosing 10x per day, it would know to dose 4ml each time. But instead it works the opposite way. You tell it how much to dose each time and how many times per day. Not a big deal.

Other than that, it's been great. Real easy to use.
Calibration of each pump is a snap.
Other than when calibrating it, I've never heard it running, so it's very quiet.
It's very accurate.
It can dose down to .1 ml which has been nice. I just noticed a slight decrease in my Alk when I tested this morning, so I ramped it up .1 ml per dose after I got to my office via MyGHL.
Programming online via MyGHL is simple and quick.
And it keeps track of how much is left in my dosing containers so I'll get a notification when it gets down to 10%.
I'd definitely recommend it.

What I meant by log capability is. If myGHL keeps a record of the time and amount it dosed on each pump. But I guess that's not really necessary if you program it to be on X times a day for X amounts.

Good to hear that it's working out so well. I'm looking to get one myself and just reading up to make sure I'm getting the best I can for the budget I have.

Today my Mars 300 arrived. :) really looks like a nice solid unit, super bright. Hopefully I can also start my build thread in 2 weeks time or so.

LOL! They're ok, but shopping around it's hard to find something cleaner.
But I did just find out this week that we have a Joybird retail store in town. I had been drooling over their website.
Might go check it out this weekend. :)

When i cleaned out the sump I just didn't put it back in.
We originally had it there to reduce potential turbulence and help create the tumbling.
But turns out I didn't need it, and it seem to tumble better with just the elbow, which I can rotate and direct flow where I want.
I think the slots were too wide in the red pipe so the flow was too spread out and less forceful.

Makes sense. I'm currently tumbling with an extra sicce 2.0 and 90 degree elbow. Works perfectly

Refugium Progress Update:

This pic was taken 9 days ago.
The Chaeto had been in for 3 days at this point, and this was the day I added the additional macros.
