d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

So how's SPS coloration so far with the LEDs?

A little early to tell but so far color is holding and looking good.
I've got frags from different people with a mix of all lighting tech.
Picked up a frag of my old Shaggy Green Humillis this weekend that is pretty brown. Waiting to see if we can get the color back on that one.

Took me almost a week, but I just read through your original build and now this one. Was trying to find ppl that used stock tanks for there sumps. Thanks to your builds now I dont know what to do. lol Thanks hahah

My tank being a 300dd and having the luxury of a basement equipment room is great, but the stock tank seams too big in my dedicated room.

Love the gorgonians. I have my local shop on standby to order some for me when I am ready
Awesome. :)

Looking great. What kind of cover do you have over the tank?
Hey, stop spoiling the surprise. ;)
That's just a temporary diy screen i've had laying on top... until the REAL one arrived.... yesterday.

haha, glad they helped some! :)

After about 6 weeks my new screen top from Artfully Acrylic arrived. :)
It's made to fit the tank exactly, even going around the overflow.
It's recessed inside with about 1/8" sticking up, supported by tabs on the corners.
I also opted for the feed door in the front.
I normally like to feed more in the center of the tank but it's still nice to have easy access to the water for filling test tubes, dosing things, placing my nori clip, etc.
The white screen material is the same as the BRS stuff.
It ain't cheap, but it looks much nicer and doesn't take away from the rimless look as much as other options.
So I get the clean look AND I don't have to worry about jumpers.

Overall I'm very pleased and would definitely recommend this product.
The only thing I would have liked to see is smoother, polished edges (i'm sure this would have jacked the price up even further though) and some kind of hinge on the door.
If hit right and hard enough, a fish could knock it off, leaving a good sized escape hole.

I had one of these done by Tank Toppers before they went out of business. It will be in on Monday, and I have one unique little design feature that I'll be adding that requires fishing line.

Yours looks really amazeballs!

Reef keeping is life!

After seeing this I'm ordering one from these guys. I'd also like to see if they can add a portal for an auto feeder. Thanks Dennis.

That is badass! I have been looking for a better top for my tank! I might have to give them a call! Awesome job on the top.

Nice top Dennis. The LFS I help support has one also. They are top notch. I am not a fan of the tabs tho. Would prefer to have a total perimeter instead. Not sure if I am going to get them to make mine or give it a shot on my own.

Thanks, Mark!

I can see your point about the tabs. I do like them because they leave most of the glass revealed which I think is the prettier material, but I can understand wanting it all even all the way across, too. :)
