d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

I'm new to dealing with coral frags... do you chop just the base of the plug, or the whole plug from the base of the coral? How do you mount them in your tank if it's just a stick?

It depends, kinda like I was saying above.
I use a little epoxy and some crazy glue no matter whether its just the frag or the plug too. But I always get rid of the plug's stem.

Nice growth. How much Calcium do you think the tank uptakes daily/weekly?

When are you going to install the controller?

Right now I'm dosing 20ml of Triton Core7 per day. Seems really high because the Core7 is supposed to be a lot more concentrated than the original Base Elements. Tim at Triton says the new Core7 raises the ph a bit (it did) so the coral need to adjust and then it should balance out, but after a few weeks that's not happening yet. Instead of 7x concentrated this is more like 3-4x.

My Profilux 4 arrives Tuesday.
I'll install that here and move the P3 to the nano tank.

That is not bad. What was the last reading? Do you ever hypo calcium and then hyper calcium to elicit a growth spurt?

Last i checked was before the switch to Core7 and it was 430 ppm.
And no, i have not.... intentionally, anyway.

That's not bad. I read (skimmed) your entire thread... awesome tank!! I am just starting a 105g rimless and want to start keeping corals. Was just wondering how long it takes a small frag to become larger. Guess this will be a very long patient journey.

This month I switched from Triton's Base Elementz to their new concentrated Core7 Base Elements, which are recommended to dose directly in the refugium.
Which means I had to re-run the output lines from my doser, do I decided to dress them up. ;)
This wasn't my idea, though... I stole it from the forums from someone else.
It's red braided cable sleeve I picked up here...

And since the ends tend to fray when cut, I finished it off with some white shrink tubing.

Great! Maybe you can help me install mine [emoji4]

Regarding the 7x, the math does not quite play out: they tell you to dose the normal additives at 10ml per 100 L, and the Core7 at 2ml... that is more like 5x, and not 7x...[emoji848]

Awesome setup, as always [emoji847]. Even the tubbing... [emoji50]. You make us feel bad about starting a thread [emoji4].

OK, the sump is in.

However, I see you are using 4 lines to dose Triton but I thought on their new system you combined 3 and 4 so you end up with just 3 lines????

Sweet, i think i saw that one on BAO's instagram.
Triton says you can mix if you have to but recommend keeping them separate.
That was the Base Elementz. I don't know what they say about the new Core7, but pretty sure that Alk is now in bottles 3a and 3b rather than Bottle 1.

Hey Dennis notice you have the GHL doser, I just received my doser 2.1 a couple of days ago and man is it an impressive unit. Quick question, on the outline do you notice that the line itself doesn't 'fill' entirely with the dosing solution or is it just me?

This is my first doser by the way so forgive my question if the answer is obvious.

Reef keeping is life!
