*d2mini's new 200g Reeftastic Build*

Also as another note or thought. What kind of door are you using on your sump room? Hollowcore or sealed? My main reason for asking, if its a standard interior door and not sealed your room could potentially fill with carbonmonoxide and the opening in the wall would give an entrance to the main home. Just a thought to consider sealing the door, if it is not already.

After 123 pages, I feel like I have to find something else to do now at work and when working as oncall during system patching....damn good read though, amazing setup. you are a gifted visualizer. Not a trait a lot of people can claim.

very nicely done
Thanks! :)

It's a solid core door but not sealed on the bottom yet. And it's not always closed, depending on what I'm doing or what the temps are.
What is the source of carbon monoxide you are thinking of? I don't run the cars or anything. Just pull in and shut them down.
I also built an acrylic cover that mostly seals off that hole. Had to keep the mosquito hawks out of the house.

BTW, speaking of that room...
Outdoor temps have gotten into the 80's so the house AC is running a lot now and the room is staying nice and cool. Humidity is low too. :)

Car exhaust was my thought. I know you dont leave them running, but more the Off chance of one running by accident or longer than thought. My son has started my remote start before my realizing it before and filled the garage with exhaust. Was thinking safety more than your fish friends. :)

CO detector works nice too. Put it in the garage and the fish room. At least it is an early warning. Besides they are cheap compared to the loss of life!

Ya no worries there.
The cars don't run, no auto starts, demobilized without the key, the garage door is open if there was any chance of a car being on, etc. And the house has detectors.

I have a few more pics to share. :)

Always thought these wall hammers look cool when closed up and under the actinic bulbs.

One of several rock anemones that I have...

Just a bunch of the kiddos following my camera around, looking to be fed. lol

And the new gang that moved into the neighborhood today.

Just picked this guy up today.
This was the one fish I lost after transferring everybody back into the new tank. Disappeared within 24 hours.
This guy was traded into my LFS after a they introduced a Purple Tang that began bullying the Desjardini.
So far, he is fitting right into my tank.

Among my favorite fish, along with my Powder Brown Tang. I love the subtle beauty of these 2 fish. Hopefully he fits right in with the rest of your crew!

Things are looking great! I should have my AWC system up and running in the next couple weeks. I think I have 4 CP pumps in my basement right now and something like 6 or 7 heads!!! :D You created a monster...

Don

Got the NYOS Nitrate kit.
Very easy to use and read the results.
And just like my old kit, this one is showing unmeasurable nitrates.

When i first set up this tank nearly 3 years ago, I had trouble for a long time getting anything under 10-12. Now I can't even get 1!

I've got that one on order. I tried the phosphate kit and, aside from the 10 minute wait, it was better than anything I've used except Hanna.

Dennis, regarding the Rock Anemones, did they stay where you placed them or did they move around until they found a spot they liked? And, are they very aggressive?

LOL, wow... i thought i was bad with 3 CP pumps. :D
Thanks!

Ya, this is a nice kit. I like it.
Might have to try the calcium and magnesium next. But I hardly test for those.
Mostly I just test Alk and I have my hanna for that.
So you like the phosphate kit? Is it pretty consistent? I hate the hanna low range checker. Such a pain in the butt.

I pretty much just toss them in and let them go where they want. But once they pick a spot (close to wherever i tossed them) they tend to stay there forever. I like these much better than regular anemones. They don't seem to bother anything. I won't even put a regular anemone in my tank any more.

Hey dennis, congratulations on an awesome tank. Laredo,tx here. I was up in houston a couple a days ago and was admiring some lfs in houston.

I have read several posts about your opinions on putting a lid on a rimless tank. I was wondering if you still feel this way and if so, what is your personal fish experience with no net.

Yeah, still not a fan of screens on rimless.
I just tried to stick to fish that weren't prone to jumping.
Stepped on a clown one morning before leaving for work. Tossed him back in and he was fine. :D
The best looking tops I've seen on rimless are ones that are inset, like Innovative Marine is doing on their Fusion tanks. I have the 10g at my office.

Like most people on here I always enjoy seeing your photos, and you are way to modest. I do not know one thing about photography, but I notice you shoot with two different cameras. What are the differences between them? Or do you have a macro lens for one and not the other? TIA and keep the pics coming

Derek

Thanks, Derek. :)
I have two systems just because the Oly is really small/light compared to the Nikon, so I tend to take it with me when I don't want carry around all the extra weight. Most of the pics i take of the tank are with the nikon and the nikon 105 macro lens, but sometimes I use the Oly with the 60mm macro.

Tanks looks spectacular as always Dennis.

I absolutely LOVE the wall hammer you have pictured above. I lost a stunning blue wall hammer a few years ago in a tank crash after a move.

My next tank will have a Rock Anemone for sure thanks to seeing yours.

Happy reefing my friend.

Thanks, Al!
I've got like 4 of those rock nems in there, plus a mini-maxi nem that I've had since my old cube tank and he is STILL in the exact same spot on the exact same rock, even after several tank moves.

I saw this posted on Nano Box's FB page, how are you liking your lighting from Dave? I ordered a retro kit for my nano hood and really excited for it to show up. What controller are you using? the bluefish controller?

Dennis, didn't you have a hybrid gold rim achilles before? haven't seen it in recent pics, do you still have him?
Nope, never did.
You are probably thinking of the Powder Brown, but he got stuck to the mag 12 skimmer pump intake when the guard fell off while in the holding tank.

It's nice little light. Seems to be working well for the nano.
I'm using the older Storm controller, the Bluefish controller is new.
I have a small build thread in the Nano section. :)
