danano's 110g @ 2 yrs

danano

Im not really sure I like the tank. It has some improving to do for sure. It dosn't have any hair algae and the lack of brown corals! Come on how real is that...

LOL J/K!!

Well after being on this site for several years now, I finally sat down over the weekend and took some pictures of my 110 intending to post them in my gallery. After seeing Danano’s tank though, it’s obvious that I would just be wasting disk space.

Beautiful tank!!!

rutz, it's a pink stylo with whitish-blue polyps. It started out as a 3" aquacultured piece 3 years ago.

David, I don't dose much anymore, excepts for maybe AA on rare occassions. That said, my bottle of AA ran out 3 months ago and I haven't dosed since.

danano,
How is your polyp extension with those angels? Mine is very poor, and I am currentlythinking of removing the angels............

Hey Danano, thanks for the update! If you have any more pics, please do post them.

Also, did you ever change the bulbs? I think you did, but can't remember, what combo are you now using?

Thanks!

REEF-D, polyp extension is good. The Blue Face and pygmies don't bother the sps. Pygmy angels in my tank include the multicolor, flame, potters and cherub.

hceiv, I changed my bulbs once after 20 months. Same combo, WHITE-BLUE-WHITE-WHITE-BLUE-WHITE-WHITE-BLUE-WHITE.

dvanacker, still SSB.

spykes, I've never really vacuumed my SSB. I do have a few sand dollars that keep the sand fairly clean/white. Some stringy worm-like critters in the LR come out to play on the sand as well, scavanging for food and leftovers.

wow dan, have not visited you for six month, tank still looks as good as ever....any recent aqusition lately?

tineng, I haven't added anything for almost a year. I'm now just sitting back and enjoying the tank. :)

Dan,

I have had some SPS go light in color. I reduced my lighting by using more blue spectrum (less par) and got more fish and feed more. This helped and I am way happier with my colors now.

I notice you have a lot of aquablue for a 120g. Your tank must be very bright yet your colors are good. Do you feed a lot. I read you have a large skimmer. What do you feed your tank??

You should upgrade that lighting you will never get any growth or color with T-5s:lolspin:

Really though one of the niciest tanks just keeps getting better. I really like how things are growing in.

Danao did you remove some of the colonies/cut down on the total number of frags?

I was wondering the same thing. I had to go more blue as well so I didn't fry my corals. Regardless, you have a beautiful tank.

dvanacker, the spectrum from the Aquablue Special (white bulbs) is more important than that of the blue bulbs for sps coloration. The blue bulbs do provide a nice visual effect however. I feed the fish pellets once or twice a day. I've stopped dosing.

Covey, yes, I removed several colonies and trimmed some to make room for growth for others and what used to be frags are now all grown out. I also removed some LR.

Dan
