danskim's 300g rimless starphire

Yeah that's a good point.
I was just thinking maybe the 2x48" fixtures would be too much for my tank. I want each to get adequate ventilation, but my tank is exactly 96" long. Also on the far left side, the overflow and wavebox takes up a bit of space, so I would have a few inches wasted.

Maybe I'll trade the 48" with a 36" to save on electricity and stuff.

Electrician put two dedicated gfci circuits in today, so that's finally all taken care of...

Also I started filling the tank with RO/DI a few days ago. I think there's about 250 gallons in it right now.

Tank and sump are full and now mixing the salt in the sump :) I also hung one of the PowerModuls.
The wavebox is really cool. Let me take a picture, and I'll be right back.

Whoops, I realized I still had the protective sheet on the light.

great updates, the protective film is used for salt creep :D any details on sump and plumbing?
Haha.. yes, that's what I meant to do.. :)

Water is running through the sump too. I'll get pictures when I get back home. It hasn't changed since the last time I posted a picture though.

The plumbing is incredibly simple. I didn't want to deal with a closed loop this time. Instead there are just two 1.5" drains and one 1" return through a WavySea. Attached to the WavySea will be a Tunze 6100.

Now there's another problem.
I actually opened the controller portion of the WavySea and hooked it up. Doesn't rotate! I contacted the company...
It wasn't submerged, so I'm pretty sure that can't be the problem (the main body says it's not waterproof). A little water may have splashed on it, but I don't think that would be enough to break it... especially because I know there's many satisfied users.

The CJ standpipes finally made their way to my house!
Last night I discovered a small leak in one of the bulkheads that wouldn't go away even with further tightening or loosening.
I drained the overflow box and siliconed around the flange. Gonna give it another try later tonight to make sure there is no leak.

I'm planning on transferring over my rocks and livestock on Wednesday!

Whew... just moved over all the rocks, corals and fish.
Luckily, I didn't end up breaking the corals too much, but there are still a lot of frags on the sandbed.
After I finish aquascaping tonight, I'll take some pictures.
I'm really glad that it doesn't seem like I'll have to add any more rocks. I want maximum room for coral growth, something my old tank didn't have.

I also just got my dual chamber Octopus calcium reactor. I was hesitant to get it at first, but I figured it was cheap.
Holy crap... it's huge and looks awesome.

Two 6" chambers with 24" total height. It also comes with a ph probe holder, quick fittings all around, and twist off caps (I hate unscrewing 8-10 screws).

Sounds nice danskim! Look forward to the pictures. Thanks for posting in my thread :) I will update it soon. I have been busy building a new skimmer for the 300 i want to get this year.

Sorry for anyone wanting to see pictures. I decided to wait until tomorrow to finalize the aquascaping because I'm expecting a shipment of fish from BZA.
I don't want any of my current fish bullying the new ones too much, so hopefully reorganizing again will help a little.

I have lots of ARM, so I'm going to use that first, but I am planning on getting some of that GenX large media.

Picture update!
I adjusted the aquascape a little, but I am still planning on changing it up a bit more... especially on the right side.
I got my fish shipiment from BZA this morning. Everything was healthy, and acclimating went smoothly.

Just two bulbs firing on each fixture. They are ATI Blue Plus. The return is temporary until I get my replacement WavySea. I'm also attaching a Tunze 6100 on the WavySea.

Here is the fish stock list now:
1 Purple Tang
1 Yellow Tang
1 Yellow Eye Kole Tang
1 Christmas Wrasse
1 Six-line Wrasse
1 Flame Angel
1 Pixie Hawkfish
2 A. Ocellaris
5 Lyretail Anthias
5 Bartlett's Anthias
11 Yellow-tailed Blue Damsel
13 Green Chromis

So, there are 43 fish total.

Also here is a picture of the Octopus calcium reactor I was talking about:

Wow, it's looking awesome! I love the open aquascape! I've been wondering how the lighting will look running just the blue plus. I'm running UVL superactinics for my dusk/dawn on my Powermodules.

Any reason you went 2 blue plus over actinics or (1) each blue+ and superactinic?
