Dave's 150G Starphire Zeo Reef~

Dave,
I love seeing really nice tanks so close to home. You have had alot of nice progress in such a short period of time. I cant wait to see what your tank looks like after a couple years. Nice job and I love the fish selection.

Just finished going thru your build, very nice, love your fish and really like your post with the side by side growth shots of your corals. Your tank is going to be a great one when your corals grow out.

Filling in nicely Dave, you seem to be getting some good growth and color. I like the new acquisitions.

Thanks very much Jay,

Yeah, it's a bummer when they do that isn't it, lol!

Thank you,

I really like that milli a lot! I can't seem to catch the true color of it though no matter how hard I try. It's actually an "icey blue" but I think I'll need to get a top down box one of these days to really capture it's "true look"!

Feel free to post up a shot of it here if you want, I don't mind....

Dave

Nice shots Dave. Does your Blue Linkia knock things over? My kids would love for me to add a starfish but I've been hesitant.

Thanks Dan,

The Star Fish is pretty harmless & quite pliable. He kind of reminds me of one of those Stretch Arm Strong dolls from way back, if you're old enough to remember? He's able to get into and out of spaces and places that are very surprising and never seems to nock anything over or get stuck.

I highly recommend adding one, just take extra time and care to acclimate them as they are very finicky in terms of parameter changes and such. I drip acclimated mine for over an hour and after that tried a trick a LFS guy (who I actually respect) told me. When adding it to the tank don't let the air get to it. Keep it submersed in just enough water to keep him wet and then release him into the tank.

I did this and this is the longest I've had one stay alive for me. I think having added sponge power from day one may have helped as well. I remember hearing some time back ago that the linkia's prefer sponge type matter as their diet. Don't know if this is true but I do know this is the best success I've had with one and I've tried many times through the years.

Oh, and the kids... they LOVE him! Always draws attention to the tank when he's out!

Dave,

Just came back to revisit the thread. Great stock list of fish. Corals are looking great with phenomenal growth for the short time you've been on the Zeo bus. You're making me think.....

Great looking tank - love it! That wavebox action is very cool. Although I would get seasick if I looked at it for too long! lol I be the corals like it.

Craig,

Thanks for stopping back by! I just finished perusing your website and forgot what yummie lookin corals you've got! I can't believe how many chalice's you've got... WOW!

Anyhow, love your tank and wish you well if you do go the Zeo way! Apparently we think a lot alike... let's see we both have the Alpha, we both have LM3's, I WISH had some of those chalice's, lol... J/K!

Look forward to seeing some updates on your site.

love your growth. Good work so far with the zeo. The info. on the linkia is very helpful. When I have a bigger tank, I'll have to try it. Keep up the good work!!

Thanks Eagle, it's been a good ride so far!

I really love Linkia's, hope the info helps if you try one. This is the best success I've ever had with one. Mine is still thriving and is a little more visible in the tank these days. He can usually be seen most days perusing the tanks rock work, glass and sandbed!

Dave, your experience and pictures makes me want to try one. Do you recommend getting a small one or a bigger one? I understand that they can be difficult especially if they are exposed to air.
