Dave's 2nd attempt at a gig.

My first attempt with a Diver's Den gigantea sadly ended in the death of the anemone.

Apparently DD is treating gigantea and magnificas with antibiotics while preparing them for selling, and once delivered the nems don't seem to respond to antibiotic treatment very well. I don't think LA is treating their gigs and others seem to have more success with anemones that haven't been treated with antibiotics previously, so this time I decided to try a Live Aquaria specimen.

It was delivered today.
It definitely wasn't bagged with as much water as the gig from DD. It was sealed in 3 bags.The one from DD had 8 bags and was packed with 4 times the volume of water. But it arrived in very cold water. The temp was much better this time.

So it begins again for me. Hopefully this try will turn out better for this anemone.

Added it to my 10 gallon hospital tank at lunch time.
I also have a heater, small power filter for water movement and medicating, a small power head, and an Ocean Revive T247 for lighting set up with the 10 gallon HT.

I turned off the power head and left the lights off while I went back to work for the afternoon.

When I got home for the evening it had deflated and looked flat. It was still not attached. I turned the powerhead on and the LEDs too. And I set each channel at 15%.
I also started treatment with Septra. I tablet.

Here are pics at bedtime. Hopefully it will improve with treatment and time.

Attached, yes.

Mouth still open. But nothing protruding.

I got the same exact gig too (medium size), delivered yesterday morning, but I chose, not to treat and place it in my qt. Too bad LA wouldn't let me do a will call at the California facility as it would have avoided sitting in a UPS truck for 12 hours instead of 20 minutes

Well, I treated because it was partially deflated yesterday afternoon.
I hope I didn't jump the gun.

20 minutes would have been far superior to 12 hours......
Post some pics when you can Clorox.

I bought one of the large specimens.
At first I thought it was to small, but 9"+ is considered large.
And after expanding it is at least 9".

It will be interesting to watch our pair.
Mine treated, and yours not treated.
Hopefully they will both do well.

Mine seems to be pretty bleached.
But so far is has not ejected anything in the HT.
The last gig ejected junk constantly.

Actually, that won't happen I tossed also the new gig in the HT with the large purple. He was displaying the typical behavior of a sick gig, half deflated and gaping loose mouth. Since both clearly have infection might as well treat them together.

The moment I put the little gig in the HT it took less than an hour for it to perk up and look much better.
Mine doesn't appear to be bleached, however, I would say it is Small rather than Medium. There is no way this is 5-6", but more like 3 1/2".
Regardless, in person you can see it is a multicolor gig, with green, tan, purple mixed together.

You can see the multiple colors in the pic so I can only imagine how good it looks in person. With some TLC, it is going to look awesome!

Looks really nice. Mines pretty bleached, so if it survives it will be interesting to see what color it is.

Nice nems! Can someone clarify for me, are DD and LA different? I thought they were the same source as they are the same website. Is the livestock kept at different locations for each?
