So, what's the prevailing opinion on proactively treating mags bought off DD? I have one coming tomorrow and am thinking just straight into my invert QT for a week or two. Figure I can treat it if symptoms dictate. DD already treat theses nems, so perhaps will be good.

I would not treat prophylactically. Would wait and see. I am a true believer that treating a healthy nem will do more harm than good.

i am not a Dr. nor am i a Vet. but let me tell you i dont think it will do more harm than good. in my case:
I have a sick green gig for unknown reason. he is unfortunately attached to a large rock that he shared with my purple gig. i dont even think about trying to remove the green gig from that rock because i know i will do more harm to its foot so i decided to remove the entire rock into a 10 gal to treat them BOTH. after more than 1 week, close to 2 weeks i placed them back into the display tank and no ill effect on the purple (un sick). Now the purple is bigger and stronger than the green.

That may very well be because the purple gig was already established and acclimated to captivity. Here, OP's anemone may be healthy (ie not infected) but nevertheless in a stressed and fragile state. That is why I believe it to be critical not to add any unnecessary additional stressors such as treatment. OP should place the anemone in a basket or bowl that can be used to easily remove the nem if it actually shows signs of illness.
Well, I decided I would treat or not treat based on how good or bad it looked coming out of the bag - and it looked good, so I put it straight into my FOWLR (which really isn't a FOWLR). Tiny little thing, and while it probably does hit 6" when fully expanded, I'd be hard pressed to think of it as 'large'. No matter though, because when happy, they grow really fast.

I am not a doctor or a vet but as humans we build up a tolerance for drugs, over exposing to antibiotics can lead to the anemone/s being immune to that certain drug so treating without properly having a reason to treat can cause the death of your anemone if you happen to need to treat later on and it doesn't respond to the medication. Another thing with treatment is do not overdose unless you know what you're doing or you're getting advise from those who have experience in doing so. Last but not least never cut a treatment short as the infection could rebound 10 fold and you will more then likely lose your anemone.
All generally true! I don't like to prophylactically treat anything, and have not done so with this new anemone. Mags can go downhill really fast though, so vigilance and quick treatment response is key if symptoms present.

I received a Mag recently from DD. The color was off and not intense as pictured but it was a very healthy mag. I quarantined it for 4 days and observed any signs of infections. After the 4 days, the mag seemed to do very well and got released to DT.
I hope DD sends you a healthy mag to begin with so that you don't have to treat the anemone.

Looks pretty good so far.
It was almost comical how quickly my clowns bailed on their BTA for this Mag. I think the clown in the picture is actually saying 'whooopeee'. I've found having clowns can help ... or hurt, if they're too enthusiastic. One more thing to keep an eye on.

I QT all of my anemones -- including magnifica regardless of where I get it from -- for at least a week prior to moving it into the DT. During this time I only observe for signs of sickness. If I see anything strange, typically deflation and/or expelling of zoox, I begin antibiotic treatment.
Since we know that DD nems are treated with Cipro, Septra would be the antibiotic of choice if you have issues with it when you receive it.

I agree with D-Nak. I have QT which is a reef tank. This is where all the new anemone go and only to DT when I deem that they are healthy.
After treatment I also put them into this QT system to make sure that treatment is effective.
