Death in the family

I just woke up to a terrible scene, all the pond fishes are dead, 5 Koi's in total, in lieu there is a million tadpoles which I assume were the cause of death as they are pretty toxic. I was very very sad to se this fishes die like that, I guess now I need to clean up the pond completely and start all over, this time I plan to put a fence arround to try to control the toads from coming in.
Any suggestions from the experienced pond keepers will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Rogger

Roger I made mine elevated for that particular reason.

Another way of controlling that issue are slider turtles they do eat tadpoles. Sorry to hear that!

that title scared me glad it was just Koi. still sorry to hear those dang frogs are bothing you.

you know what they say.....when life gives you frogs.....have frogs legs for dinner.
Btw do you have a Westin permits for a frog pond..you know how those HOA commandos are.

It is more likely that it wasn't frogs but toads. Cane Toad tadpoles are particularly noxious. I'm always removing toads from my pond so to prevent exactly what happened in yours. Sorry to hear about the dead koi.

Ouch, :D that was a present! well it was going to be either the frogs or the crane, it just goes to shows that bad planning consequences also applies to ponds.

You know, with Rogger's penchant for tinkering and cool gadgets, why couldn't he erect a small fence around it, with one small passageway to let them in. To get in, they'd have to cross a small "drawbridge", attached to a rat trap. Now I know what you're thinking, that would be cruel, but I have the coolest of intentions in mind. Instead of killing the toad, the rat trap would flip the drawbridge, flinging the toad into the neighbor's yard, where the barking rottweilers are. That'd kill two birds with one stone!

Yeah, The Rottweilers and the toad will be dead, not a bad idea, I was actually thinking on an electric fence but the rat trap catapult sounds way more fun.
