Deeznutz Hd 120 Shallow rimless (Pics)

Great job deez,it looks really nice:beer:
I love the way it fits in the room!

Thanks man. So far we are very pleased with the outside of the tank. Now I have to concentrate on the inside of the tank :) That's when if gets expensive lol.

Love the clean look D..ya I would move the drain away from the electrical to the left just in case..or even just move all the electrical stuff to the left and just run a cable duct to hide all the wires just a thought
.other than looks amazing

Thanks dude, I agree with you on moving the electrical. But it'll just have to do for now. I've even been debating moving everything into the fish room underneath. We will see about that though.

Night time Shot. I'm having a real hard time shooting the blues. Any photog tips? Shooting with a Canon 5D

You need to set a custom white balance or shoot raw and correct the white balance in post to get the tank to look normal. That will also make the rest of your shot look wrong. If you have a few minutes to make a quick mask in Photoshop that you can make a composite shot that'll look correct.

If there's any time during the day when room light is nearly as bright as the LEDs on the tank you can often use AWB and get good results.

Awesome progress and great job on the wiring. Which wave box did you get. Can we see photos? How is that working out for you and what prompted you to get one?

Thanks for the insight. I'll try it out. I'm using Aperture though.

Thanks man that wiring was a mess lol.

I got the Tunze Comline Wavebox 6208. If you look at the display, it's in the far right corner. Initally I had it in the middle, but I found that I get a better wave when it's on the end. Plue is doens't stick out as much.

As for the wave box. It's pure bliss! When I first got interested in the hobby a buddy of mine had one. That was going back 10years ago. To this day I've always wanted one.

I found a used one in the classiieds and decided to give it a try as I wasn't sure if the smaller one would work out on a tank this long. The large wavebox 6215 was just to big and the foot print wouldn't fit my tank. I was also worried if the magnets would work on 3/4 glass. Sure enough, its working perfectly in unison with my MP40s. It just adds that movement in insides and behind rocks and in the corners. Watching stuff sway back and forth is pretty cool and calming. I would love to add 2 more MP10 on the back glass centered and set to the lowest speed for additon flow. I know when the Sps start to flurish, it's something that will be benificial. Unfortunatly the Mp10 don't work 3/4 glass :(

I would suggest a wave box to anyone that has great flow and just looking to add just a little extra icing on the cake :)
No regets with this additon.

Glad to hear your wave box is working out:thumbsup:
I was wondering how it would function with the internal overflow box. I would assume that the output shoots directly at the internal overflow, but it sounds like it doesn't interfere with performance.

How well do the magnets hold on the 6208, I thought they were recommended for up to a 1/2" glass thickness?

hi deez, love your tank and your house, any update?

Thanks man, I appreciate the compliments.
I'll update the thread soon. I have to get some good pics first.

Do you have photo editing software like Lightroom?

One easy way to set WB is to just use something like sand or a white spot on a plug.

I'm using aperture. I might get photoshop. I haven't tried a customer WB but I I will try tonight. Thanks for the help.

Small update

The tank is in cruise control mode. I'm reconsidering my fish list for this tank and currently have no fish in the tank. I've put them in a holding tank for now while I decide the direction of the stocking list.

I was planning a school of Red Spot Cardinal fish, but it seems everywhere I look and research the Red spot cardinals just don't do well. I think that Anthias get too large too quickly and the feeding requirements might cause more harm then good. So I'm not sure which direction to go with this.

Here are my options. I know in most cases they will kill each other off one by one. But maybe in a non aggressive peaceful situation it will work out???

Chromis
Blue eye cardinals
Mini darts
Fire gobies
Any other suggestions?

As for the rest of the fish, I think a lot of little gobies swimming around the tank would be pretty neat. As you won't see them until you get up close and personal.

I've been stocking the tank with inverts lately and they seem to be doing well

1 x Tige Prawn Shrimp
2 x Blood Shrimp
1 x Cleaner Shrimp
1 x Sand Sifter starfish(from my frag tank)
2 x Pom Pom crabs
1 x Serpent star (from my frag tank, been with me for 10 years)
Handful of Trocus and Nassarius
1 x Turbo snail.
1 x Strawberry Conch

Future plans for Inverts

1 x Yellow spiny Cucumber
1 x Coral bandit
10 x Sexy Shrimp
2 x Emerald Crab
2 x Peppermint Shrimp
1 x Linkia Starfish
1 x Formia StarFish
2 x Maxima Clams
1 x Coco worm
1 x Blue tuxedo Urchin

I'm envisioning a Large nano tank, if that even makes sense?

As for the rest of my equipment. All of my EcoTech products are working very well together as expected.

My XR15 Pros are in the final stages of its acclimation mode and I'm starting to see some good growth on a few of my SPS. Colouration of most of them are starting to set in. I'm still playing around a bit with the actual colour of the LED fixtures, but think I'm almost there. By the end of my acclimation stage I'll be running the lights at 65% intensity. I'll leave it there as recommend by others.

I have to say that I am not only loving the way the lights work and all the options that come along with an LED light but the look of them is very modern and sleek. I don't think I have had one friend see the tank and not comment on how nice they are.

The Reef Link really makes adjusting them easy. Either through my Macbook or iPhone. I might put the App on my iPad as well lol
I set up my Vortechs to the Reef link as well. Pretty cool how everything works together.:bounce3:

So there it is, so far so good. I think by Christmas time, I'll be brave enough to add some nicer SPS pieces. But for now, I'm going to concentrate on the inverts and fish.

I'll a few more pictures when I get a chance.

Thanks for following

Nicely done Dan! Your idea with the smaller fish species is great. The abundance of smaller fish and inverts makes for and interesting display sometimes lost with bigger more boisterous fish. Your patience and attention to detail is impressive, look forward watching your system progress into what surely will be a work of art :)

If you have cleaner shrimps and blood shrimps that's enough. I wouldn't go with the Coral bandit shrimp. I had bad experience with them.
The have killed all my other shrimps in the tank.

I have one though cause I like them but by themselves in the frag tank.

Just my experience ...

Anyway ... What's up with the no pics posts ?

Thanks so much, if it wasn't for you pushing me to get this tank wet it would still be dry today lol.

I agree, the tank is going to be pretty cool when it's full of smaller interesting inhabitants. Just today I was just looking at one of my SPS and in the corner of my eye popped out one of my new POMPOM crabs. He instantly grab my attention. I followed him around and he lead me to where the second POMPOM was hiding. Now i know where both reside in the tank :)
If this is any indication of what it's going to be like when I'm viewing the tank in the evening, I'm never going to get any sleep :D

wow deez, read the whole thread build, amazing my man, amazing!!!!!

Wow thanks man, I'm glad my thread has kept you interested throughout the whole build. I have to say that I'm glad I've taken my time and did everything the way I wanted from the get go. I still have to figure out my water change station. But that will just have to wait. Thanks for following.

Thanks for the advice on the shrimps. I've kept both cleaners and coral bandits, but never long enough to see how they would live together. My mystery wrasse made good work of them:eek2: What a nasty fish.

Sorry about not posting pics. I'll make up for it.

Picture time

So after getting some help from fellow photographers, I've finally been able to capture some decent pictures of the tank. LED are hard to photograph for some reason. Heres my first attempt. I still have to hone my skills. I'm also finding it a lot harder shooting through 3/4 glass. I seem to get a lot of distortion. Ohwell.

FTS, I just love the way these lights looks! The fixture and the arms just work so well together. NOt only can I move the lights in and out, but if you noticed, I can rotate the light as well. Really cool feature.

I seem to have more LPS then I care for in this tank. I just haven't had a chance to find new homes for them yet.

I'm not sure what this coral is, but it's starting to get settled in and adjusted to the Radions. It's been a rescue coral for over a year.

Heres my Confusa. Its always happy!

M. plawanensis Another rescue from over a year and it never had blue polyps until now.

Ponape, again this one has done well since day one.

And my Pompom with eggs :)

Until next time my friends...

Deez,

Absolutely beautiful setup, family and house. Very inspirational!

Can you give me some more info on the material you used to organize your wires? I'm building a cabinet to sit next to my tank, and I need to organize this rats nest of cords! :uhoh3:

any pic good or bad so i can kind of see the wave box? Can't see it above.

Also any video to see how the flow looks?!

Tank looks great and clean. will look super sweet when grown in

Read through the whole build while sipping some coffee this morning. Beautiful home and awesome tank! Love all the pics and frequent updates. Look forward to lots more. Bravo sir!

Perty light display! Generally, I really like light spillage because it helps illuminate the room and adds drama to the display.

Thank you so much for the compliments. As for the wiring organizer, I went to Canada Computer and in the HDMI cables section I found it. It's just coragated hose with a simple wiring pulling tool. Cost about 8 bucks for 16'

I hope you find it. I think Ikea sells wire managment systems.

Thank you. The wave box has been removed. The pump was acting up. I'm now on wave maker mode using my MP40s! Sycned together I got a really sweet wave in auto mode. I'll try to post a vid if I get a chance.

Thank you for the kind words. I will continue to update this thread. I have a small office project I've been working on this last week. It sholud be done by the weekend, so I'll post some pics of that as well.

Does the light spill bother you

No the light spill does not bother me at all. At first, it did. But I've never had a tank on the main floor of this house before. So I had to adjust to having light in that area.

As for light spill in general, the XR15 pro do an amazing job of keeping the light where it should be. Comparded to my 10 bulb ATI power module in my last tank. There's no light spill in comparison and I'm using the wide angles lens.

I found with my t5 lighting that the source light would always hit my eyes when I'm sitting down. Where with the LEDS the source light is shielded. Like a lamp shade. It's much more comfortable on the eyes.

Perty light display! Generally, I really like light spillage because it helps illuminate the room and adds drama to the display.

Thanks man, the XR15 pros are beautiful functioning pieces of art! I'm very pleased with the product. The term function before form has always been a mission statement. But with these lights, its function and forms both play equal rolls.:spin3:

I want to play around with the lighting a bit more. But I'm getting such good results with the tank that I want to keep the lighting consistent. Tank is really showing signs of stability. Coraline algae is really taking hold. I'm talking 1x1 cm circles of it everywhere and the tank was started August 2!
Boy do I hate cleaning coraline algae :( But I'll take it for now.

Yes this it true about light spill, although the light spill is minimal, the extra light is nice to have like you mentioned. I don't have to have lights on around my kitchen/family room area anymore. I like having the tank where it is. When I have to walk around at night, I don't have to turn on any lights as the tank give off enough lighting to get around.
I just wish I had night lights on my cats as they are always in the way and I'm tripping over them always. :lolspin:
