There are nights that I come home after work and just cant believe how cool it is to have a reef tank. To think that you have a "tropical zone" inside your house when it is 27 degree's just blows me away. Tonight I came home from work and just stared at the tank. I look to my left and see that the eel has moved to the left rock! I forgot to feed him a couple days and now he's on the prowl. I thawed a shrimp and put it on the side of the tank that he normally feeds from. This was the COOLEST thing I have seen my tank. I was able to snap some pictures of him moving from the left rock to the right and here's the series. Its SO hard to catch him going across with how quick and ninja like he is!
I'm saving up some for a Hanna refractometer. Its a piece of equipment that I will keep forever so I figure why not get the best? I want to start doing two small water changes a week and see how things react to the water quality. I am working on a salt water/RO water station so H20 changes will be a breeze.
Fun picture for the day...
I also received my DIY ozone reactor stuff today. I am extremely excited about this and it is going to look great. Hopefully I can have it built this weekend and in the next few weeks have it hooked up.
Here's a few pre-fab pictures. The bio-bale material goes into the reactor to slow down the water flow and more reaction time for the ozone and water to react. This will run to my MR1 shorty carbon reactor and then back to my tank.
After a few to many brews last night I finished putting together my drill press and started to on my new heatsinks. While most people are using larger ones I believe they are overkill. I found a supplier with different size heatsinks that will make my units PERFECT for nano tanks. After receiving them I think the 12 LED units will be 8x3x1.5.
