Looking good! Another 160XL in the house here.

Awesome! We need to share hacks. I am envious of your brown doors...trying to find some via Coralvue, but no word yet.

I also have, on order, a black acrylic shield to cover the rear overflow for easy cleaning. Will let you know the specs if it fits/works.

I use a Flipper Max with a screw in PVC pole to clean the back glass...works like a charm.

Any other hacks you have learned?

Very nice!! More details please, like bulbs, filtration approach(what type of carbon dosing do you employ if any), etc...

Bulbs...front to back:

I add 15ml of vodka per day with a dropper full of KZ Cyanoclean (prophylaxis). I think the vodka brightens the colors (vs just using it to lower NO3...I think I am alone in this belief). I actually added sodium nitrate to raise my nitrate levels.

I have carbon, but it's not running right now. No GFO --I don't try to limit Phosphate (at least not yet).

Use a Gyre150 and a supplemental tunze. Awaiting for someone to build a silent vortech someday.

Very nice looks like you modded the stock sump yeah?

I agree on the Elos sump suck-age. So pointless the way they had it. It would be the world's best tank if it had dual drains --then I could run a modified herbie at full siphon for dead silent operation. I did build a reverse durso on the drain which helped quiet down the drain. I do think the siphon break included on the return line is brilliant though.

Yes, I used dental floss to cut thru the silicon and built a few baffles into it. Also turned the fresh water reservoir into a fuge. A few others have done similar. The only down side is I should have moved the fuge to the center chamber.

I plan on changing the fuge light to an LED this week.

Starfish from KP Aquatics. Reef safe for 4 months...eats pieces of clam etc. Leaves living clam alone. No reports of adverse starfish events with these...
