Threw away a sand dollar Monti that had aptasia

I got the left over sand dollar monti.... minus the Aptasia! A large generous amount of mint chocolate chip Zoos, Borchers Blue zoos in a (Used?) urine specimen container...lol, teal zoos, and a orange ric, some other zoos, and palys that had 2-3 polyps, but cant make out the color until they grow out, put a 10 of the pieces on one area, so I will see what they look like in time... Again thanks to everyone that came out to see our tank, it was wonderful to meet all of you.

wow...thanks for sharing...makes me so nervous to get sps at swaps due to that reason...will need to set up QT for frag swap observation and dipping...sounds like event was awesome.

Why would you throw away the monti if it had aptasia? Why not nuke it and isolate it on a frag rack? If that were the case I would have thrown out 1/4-1/3of corals I get from stores and swaps LOL

I use to keep newly dipped frag's on the frag rack and check daily for at least three week's. (with a magnifying glass)
But a QT tank is the best method.

I took the magnifying glass to it and didn't see any. I did take a filter sponge and wiped gently on the frags while they were in the revive around the base.

Just follow pauls advice, or in those situations I break off the plug and remount on a new one.

On the plug/rock or any dead tissue on the coral are the likely spots for eggs

All plugs and or dead tissue get cut off now days. Hate to loose encrustment but after the crap I have dealt with after dipping everything I won't take the chance any more..

Rob...yikes! if i saw aefw's come off during a dip...i wouldn't even risk it .
