disappearing palys??????

I am missing as much as 7 polyps a day. Some days not noticing anything, other days missing a small patch. Seems to be the same 2-3 colonies. Not for sure when they are all gone if whatever is eating them will move on. I have a power brown tang, hippo tang, and a pink tail trigger. I thought it might be the hippo, but I took him out and placed him in quarantine for 3-4 days. More polyps went missing while he was out. I have been checking out tank at night but no suspects. Does anyone have an idea who might be dining on my palys.

Probably should mention that I did read that you have disappearing Palys and not Zoas. I'm guessing by Palys you might mean larger Zoas. My larger and smaller types of Zoas are both being eaten-no true Palys are being bothered in my tank luckily.

I have actually never seen them pick at the palys. But of course they know I am in the room. I have had the hippo and the PB for over a year. Problem has only been in the last month or so. About the time I got the trigger. But if I am not mistaken I was missing a few palys before the trigger.

I'd watch them from another room or put a video cam while your out of the room.

If it's not them, have you checked your tank for Eunicid worms?

FYI, fish can start chewing on polyps after even long periods of good behavior. My "the best purple tang ever" was well behaved (no coral chewing) for a year. Then he suddenly started pounding my acans. I rehomed him. :(
