Disaster!

Looks like the model I have of the 6205 wont draw power when seized, which it was.

One day off and huge calcification.

Had cleaned a month ago.

Oh, and believe me, Roger knows who I am! Dr. Goodluck n all that!

First time I have been on the site in a while and I see your post Joel....all I could think of was "OH NO!" If I was closer I would be there in a heart beat but it is a 590 mile ride. Hope all works out for you....

Ha! Yeah, you heard about other calamities here! Hey you were rumbling back about starting a new reef. I was gonna send corals. Whassup?

Got everything I need, but I decided to go with a reef ready tank instead of the 125 glass one I have. Am keeping my eye out for a 180 gallon or better RR acrylic tank. Scarce as hens teeth in my neck of the woods. I keep checking CL within a 250 mile radius but so far no luck. I figure some day my tank will come...until then I keep busy with the horses, chickens, turkeys, Guinea hens, dogs, cats, rabbits, pot bellied pig and goats. Just call me the Farmer in the Dell I guess. Since I can buy raw milk here I have learned to make my own butter, sour cream, buttermilk, cream cheese, mozzarella & ricotta cheses. Plus my own yogurt and ice cream. If I can get the cultures I am going to try blue cheese next. Wonder if I will ever get enough time for another tank? If it doesn't happen within the next year, I will sell all my equipment and just chalk it up to fate.
You were always so generous, the offer of the corals is so touching and so typical of what a great reefing buddy you have been to so many on this site. Joel, you are truly, one of a kind...

Wow, Nina. Thanks.

I would not have been in this hobby past mid-2005 were it not for people like Dave Luke, Doug Lehman, Jim and Marty Bash, Mike Hurley, Jim McDaniel, Menard Villaber, and the one who was easily the most generous of all, Jose Dieck. I quite literally would have been out were it not Rod Buehler's big heart -- and willingness to drive many miles at an ungodly early morning hour -- to save me when I was posting to give it all away. Then Tim last weekend.

If I have done anything it has been to try and, however inadequately, justify the boundless generosity of these and many others on this board over the years. Many of these names are no longer around, being gone from the hobby, from the area, or having been banished, sadly, from RC (yes, Larry, they deserved it but it remains a loss to the community, nevertheless, in several cases).

You were a pal as well, Nina, and I want you to get that tank going already! :deadhorse:

Naa its the same voltage as most laptops. All you need to do is make sure you get one that has a higher wattage rating than the one on your pump. Many of them come with 10 different ends including the right one for the Tunze. I replaced my power supplies for less than 10$ each and they have lasted longer than the originals.

Well, I looked for my 6205 and no luck. Either had vents and fans, which multiple reports demonstrate fire hazard on the pumps, or else not right watts or connectors. I spent hours looking.

I have a Tunze pump that's not working. It's worth $10.00 for a power supply to find out if that's the problem before I send it to Roger for repair.
Any chance you got a link?

I don't have the exact link for the one I bought because its been lasting a long time. I think the Tunze is 45 or 50 watts. Something like this is 90 which should hold up better then the lower wattage one that comes with the Tunze. Pretty sure they are 24V too either way these are adjustable. Just match what the pump says. Sorry this one is a hair over 10 bux but if you search hard you can fine one for under $10 I am sure.

I have never seen vents or fans in laptop power supplies. Where have you been looking Ostrow? :eek1:

Almost all of the cheap ones have them. Search the bay for laptop power supply.

Larry which Tunze pump? The very hard part is finding the correct wattage with correct output voltage. I have failed after looking again for the 6205 which needs 110 watts and 24v.

Ostrow you do not need to find the same wattage. It needs to be the same or larger. If its larger it just has more capacity. If you bought a 500W model it would work fine for everything under that.

Yes voltage is important. Here this one should work for what your looking for.

Ted "the Tunze" makes no sense. There are MANY Tunzes

You are correct the old ones that didn't use a laptop type power supply this does not work for. Seems like most the newer ones are 24V with just different wattage requirements.

LOL, I had to edit out the link. I can't believe I asked you to post it after you said it was an ebay item. We don't allow ebay or craigslist links. I accept full responsibility for trapping you

My non working Tunze is a 6105
10-24 volts @ 9-28 watts. With that info (I only asked for a link earlier as the pump was buried somewhere in my fish room, I found it and have it soaking now), I expect that finding an appropriate lap top power supply should be easy.

The 6105 should be easier than then 6205. Problem with the one in the link (though for $13 would be worth seeing) is you can't see the nature of the male plug on the adapter. The 6205 has a weird 3-prong thing in an n shape. I believe it is the pump that plugs into that. But, maybe it would work or could be adapted to work.

Ted, when I searched on the bay I could not find any of those that you illegally linked to (MOVE HIM ON!!! LOL). I searched laptop power supply, laptop power, and others. Weird. But thanks. And correct, you need only to meet or exceed the pump watt needs. Larry the 6105 uses more than 28! It is 90 watts!
