Diy led

Hey guys, have anyone come up with a way to make these look more like a "normal" fixture, as opposed to having it be more industrial looking that would be better suited to putting in a hood? Not that the look of these is necessarily bad, but I was just curious if there was a way to make it look a little nicer so hanging over an open topped tank wouldn't be an issue.

Edit to add: I have an older Tek t5 fixture up in my closet. Would it be possible to retrofit something in there?

you can gut that fixture and just measure and fit in the heatsink of your choice that fits with room above it for airflow then just make sure there are some decent fans in it. only other option is to build your own fixture which can be done if you are good at building things(pretty much what you have to do with any DIY retro)

The plan from the outset was to help give something back to the members of TBRC. Sue as well as the entire board are merely trying to do something for and with club members. It's as simple as that.

If your a club member and would like to build yourself a LED fixture then let us know what you want to do. Sorry Jae, back on topic.

Make an acrylic cover like I did for my build.just use 1/8" thick acrylic so it isn't heavy.I could probably help you out on designing it.maybe even help build it.

Hey Chris, I remember seeing your build thread, but must have missed the end part where you added the black acrylic. Looks very nice. Might PM you one of these days, see if I can stop by and check it out.

I was looking at my Tek fixture and wasn't sure how you'd get fans in there (without sticking them on top). I think I like you're ideas better anyways.

This looks amazing. You did a really nice job. I am currently in the process of setting up a 34g Nano setup. I wanted to go with a 250w MH setup, but you have changed my mind on this. Would you mind giving me the link on where you ordered the LEds and Driver from? Also how many Leds would you recommend for replacing the 250w setup on my 34g.

Thanks Allot,

Josh

I just followed what jae told me to do u could have simply replied that u wernt organizing and the was it. As far as everyone know this wasn't a tbrc exclusive , the the contact he gave me after words the people were great and more than helpful and pleasant doing buissnes with . Some would be more than glad to attend but sometimes peoples attitudes seem to shine in this area . But back to topic nice tank build jae keep us updated

That is exactly what sue did. She was direct, not rude. Sue is a great woman and a wonderful club president. But you would know that if you came to a meeting. You will notice that this is a club forum, and a quite active one.

So please come to a meeting and meet some of the wonderful mebers

Lets get back to the thread topic .

Jae , How are your SPS Corals doing , under the LEDs ? Are they still looking good ?

Just an FYI for anyone looking to dim these led's with a controller. These led's work great on the Meanwell ELN-60-48D led driver.
